2005 997s price advice
No NA 997 makes 444Hp, and the car you were looking at is a 2 wheel drive, Right?
I think the KBB is off on this one.
Perhaps look around at different classifieds, it will give you an idea of the prices.

I have had dealers in Florida and Texas quote me $1500 for a adding a CPO, plus whatever the costs of items that need repair/service. I have also been told the most common items that are changed in adding the CPO are rear tires.
Your dealer should able to meet that prices, especially since they want to sell you the vehicle.

Check out the pricing information on Edmunds.com. They provide resale, private party and dealer pricing. It's running quite a bit under KBB for 997's right now. That's a good place to start negotiating. I just closed on a 997 C2 at $58K and change. It really was like new though, with only 13K miles, so I think that was at the high end of the scale. I would also check out other extended warranties...at the end of the day, you just need the costs covered, so does it matter if it's Porsche or another firm? This is my second Porsche, and I prefer a quality Porsche specialized mechanic over dealers for maintenance. I've not had good luck (or pricing) from dealers.
You will enjoy the ride though!

SLP Here is the kbb -on Porsche 2005 C2S trade in with Nav and full leather . That is what the car is worth wholesale and you want to come as close to THAT number as possible . I;m even thinking 58 is high for an 05. I understand that you like the car .. but it's priced out . As for CPO and dealership sales hype --if it's worth 5 -7 extra grand to drive tjat specific car --at least you realize what you are paying over.

wow all very interesting information.
thanks for the kbb/edmunds price advice and for quoting some prices. i will continue my search in that case, unless the dealers are willing to drastically cut down their price. Seems as though I may possibly find one within the $55-60 range max, just most are offering them at $69k+ range!
now if i can just find someone to buy my cayenne, i wouldnt have to worry about trade in with a dealer as well and can also look private!
