2005 997s price advice

Tell me what a good price for this is, dealer is asking $69,995

Bodystyle: 2 door Coupe Engine: B6 3.6L Transmission: Automatic Ext. Color: Seal Gray Int. Color: Black Mileage: 8,051 VIN: WP0AB29985S741794 This 2005 Carrera S is nearly germ free! Simply perfect in every way. Finished in Seal Grey/over black leather, Chrono package plus, power seat package, 19' Carrera classic wheels. A real nice car. If you're looking for a super clean Tip S Coupe.

Whats a good negotiable price? It has a deposit on it now from someone else, but if that doesnt work through, Im thinking of making an offer.

Seems high, you could probably get into a 06 C2S for the same money. Why a Tip?

I was budgeting myself around $60k so was hoping to find something closer to that...was hoping to negotiate close to that range.

A tip..well...I've been flip flopping on that idea but ive come to the conclusion that this will basically be my daily driver almost...and i barely have patience enough with NY traffic and having a manual would not help it much! A tip is just a lot easier and stress free for me!

They also said theyd CPO it for an additional $2-2,500

I just purchased an '05 Carrera S that was CPO'd with 19k miles for $60,200. 6-speed, Chrono, Full leather, no full power seats but with Sports seats. Bought it from a private owner. I think I got a great deal. Yours sounds a bit high. If you can get them to CPO it for that price then maybe a better deal. Not sure what state you are in but in GA there is no sales tax when buying from a private owner. BTW - the S should be the 3.8L engine, not 3.6! Don't forget the market for a tiptronic when you go to sell it may not be as good as the market for 6-speeds.

I drive mine in City Traffic, and I tell people that the clutch is as easy as a VW GTI, very forgiving. I agree that the manual transmission is easier to move then the Tip, I for one would not even consider it. I think for 60L you should be able to find a car that fits your budget. Start searching the internet, Autotrader, Porsche.com, ebay, there are lots of cars out there and it will give you an idea of options and prices.

Good Luck.

Depends on where you live- Cab / Tip is a very popular combination along the West Coast- one of the San Diego dealers (Hoehn) told me he sells MORE tips than 6 speeds....

Tht price is very high . I would not insult them with what their car is really worth but if they are asking that much ...I would walk .

Some posters are posting 60K and they are spot on for a manual ! A tip on an 05 facing near warranty end and PDK in the future -ha ha . They probably took it on trade for 52 .

It's not worth a penny over 58 .

$60k is reasonable for a dealer.
Private seller, more like $55k.

I drive a 6 Speed Manual in heavy traffic, and it's so easy, second-nature, etc. that it's no bother at all. And OOOH so much more fun when I get the open roads.

When considering your budget, keep in mind that you will very quickly get the "itch" for certain after-market mods, such as: exhaust (mufflers, sport cats, headers), cold air intake, ECU flash/chip, tint, clear bra, wheels, V1 hardwire, M25 blinder laser defense, etc. Not to mention cost of upkeep- an '05 is about to out of warrantee, and you'll need rear tires every 12k miles.

But, it's really worth it- driving a 997S is fantastic!

I just Kbb'd it since you mentioned it . You'll see.

As for CPO --2500 ??? Ouch . No way . The "certified" warranty is not the same as the factory warranty (original) . You have a better route with an extended warranty .

Hmm really? I thought the CPO was pretty much the same as the original? What are the main differences?

I KBB'd it and shows a value of around $65,000...since that seems to be the KBB value..what do you think i can negotiate to? Keep in mind theyre asking $69,995.

I see in the pictures it has a PCM screen but no mention of navigation, does a PCM screen automatically mean a 997 has navigation (like the Cayennes)...or could it not? Can it be retrofitted if not? Thanks.
