Look at this post from Fabspeed - their 996 can. Look familiar to what I posted and very much unlike 997

May be in the 996, the pipe shown is just long enough to reach the cat's pipe, but if you use 996 can in the 997, must have connector pipe?

Ok, these mufflers in the post you quote are clearly for a 996. It's easy to tell these are for a 996 because the mounting brackets on the mufflers are at an 45 degree or so angle and on a 997 they have to be at a 90 degree angle.

Pcarr's muffler brackets are at a 90 degree angle so they do appear to be for a 997.

if you have a 3" gap between the cats and the muffler inlet pipe, you're missing the connector pieces, I just installed a few fabspeed set on my car. These look similar, mine had a different fabspeed tag on them and different outlet pipes than those.

If they are truly Fabspeed mufflers for 997, why do Fabspeed make the inlet pipe too short in the first place? BTW, where do I get the connector?

fabspeed, they came as part of my muffler set. It's about a 4-5" pipe with slots in the end.

Thanks Chris,
I have emailed Fabspeed with no luck about the connectors. Do you know the exact length and diameter of the connector on both end so I can go to auto part store to see if they have it.
thanks

no luck from FabSpeed?? ...that is kind of odd?? are you (or they) saying they can't (or won't) ship the sleeve/connector or is it they do not know what you are talking about?

can't imagine they won't ship you these (for a price) ?? (note that I would not expect a response from FabSpeed until Monday)

PCARR these mufflers are Fabspeed's and they will fit on your 997. She did not include the 5" extenders so that you can adapt the mufflers to your stock catalytic converters. Please give me a call at Fabspeed 215-646-4945 regarding the necessary extenders.

All this drama and it's simply a missing muffler-to-CAT connector. I assume from this that FabSpeed builds a 'generic' Porsche muffler and provides model specific adapters.

Glad this thread has finally seen it's end.

Who did you e-mail at fabspeed? Give me a call anytime and I would be more than happy to help you out with your problems. Unfortunatley this is what happens some times when you buy used stuff off E-Bay....anyways, if there is anyway I can help you out please feel free to give me a call.
