Fabspeed mufflers Imitation?

Spoke to Joey at Fabspeed and attached are pictures of the mufflers. Unfortunately bought them on Ebay. Advertised as "like new 997 Fabspeed mufflers, used only 200 miles". She said selling for dad who took them off due to noise at the neighborhood of mostly retired people. She used stock picture of a 997 fabspeed mufflers that can be seen on fabspeed.com and did not post any pictures of the real mufflers(red flag!) Received them within a week and found them to likely be much more used than 200 miles. You can see the scars of time and corrosive material at the clamps. (I thought a 997 fabspeed mufflers don't have clamps.) The marking on the clamp does have the label fabspeed and numbers as shown. Worst yet, the inlet pipe connecting the muffler to the cat is way (3 inches) too short. The muffler will not fit the space allowed in the 997. Needless to say, it is useless to my 997.
Attempt at communication and resolution failed. Worst yet, I am called a liar! I am out $557.15, lessen learn! No more ebay!
Joey, if you could comment on these pictures would be much appreciated.
TIA

He did not know much about it. He was going to ask the technician, but he was not available. I initially thought that what I received was the 996 version and that's why they didn't fit. Joey said 996 and 997 are exactly the same

to be honest they don't look all that different to my Fabspeed cans...but they do kind of look odd ..and these certainly look like they have a lot more than 200 miles on them

in addition, there is a sleeve of around 5" (?) in length that connects the cats to the muffler, that clamps onto both, the two pipes don't touch each other...guessing you are missing these?

fitting, well ... to be honest I wasn't totally pleased with the fitment overall of the mufflers+cats+headers (jealous of the AWE guys who are all very pleased) did you remove the brace that runs in between the muffler and the rear wheel? ...without removing these, you will never get them in!

i plan to be under the car tomorrow and if you want some pics of the bits mentioned above installed, let me know

lastly, did you "checkout" through eBay+PayPal? ...if so, and I recommend always, then you have avenues for reconciliation there

By simply looking at the pictures they really look like Fabspeed to me. Someone would have gone to a whole lot of trouble to get that Fabspeed badge on that exhaust. As for the condition it looks pretty good to me. The exhaust will tarnish with in 50 miles of driving on them. But the truth is it's pretty hard to judge mileage on mufflers by just looking at them.

As long as they haven't been bent in an accident you should have no problem installing those mufflers. You are welcome to call me and I will walk you through the installation. It's really quite simple if you are somewhat mechanically inclined. Good luck.

Look like Fabspeed mufflers to me. They will tarnish like in the pics 1st time out. Fabspeed are tuff mufflers. I have had mine since mid 2006 and with 2 997S cars. I have a ton of track days at Sebring on mine and well over 15,000 miles and they are holding up great. They have turned a golden color but who looks at the mufflers anyway under the car.

Take them to your local muffler shop and I bet they can get them installed.

The 997 fabspeed mufflers on this old for sale thread have different brackets. Did fabspeed update the brackets? Or are they for another car. They were said to be for a 997.

might be a 996 fabspeed exhaust.

Also could be 997 c4 widebody exhaust, maybe that is why it has clamps on it.

looks like a fabspeed to me.

Pcarr,
I just had my Fabspeed muffler's & cat taken off & replaced back with OEM yesterday. Those are definitely Fabspeed. You are missing the spacer which connects cats to muffler. Call Fabspeed and have them send you a set or have a muffler shop fabricate them. Total install time should be 1 1/2 to 2hours max.

sorry to hear about the headache- but seems like you overall got a decent score. Get the missing connectors and you should be ready to rock.

Thanks to you all. I didn't realize that there should be a spacer connecting the cat to the muffler. Is the spacer normally come with the set when bought new, cause I sure don't have it? Why don't Fabspeed just make it long enough in the first place. May be Joey can enlightened us. And how do I get the spacer?-TIA

Ok, if it is a Fabspeed muffler, did they get updated it recently b/c the picture on their website shows pipes without a bracket? Here's a pic from their website:

call me crazy (wouldn't be the first) ...but these look almost, if not, identical to the picture provided, and to my own FabSpeed setup?
