Order No. 150

Hi guyz, just ordered my 2009 997 s and chose the option:

Order No. 150 Without catalytic converter

It costs nothing and was very curious on how much horsepower can be achieved with this, if any.

I don't think the 'no CAT' option is available in the the PCNA playbook.

I always get a kick out of how Porsche can charge for a delete or in this case not charge. I suspect it 'disrupts' their normal production flow so they feel justified to charge for omitting items.

Wish I could do that in my business. Charging more or a premium for not providing 'standard' services'. I like that notion.

I think the only reason why that option is available here is because emission control is not very strict. I was finding that option very suprising when I came across it. Oh well, I guess I might get a couple more horse power

Hummm...so no Cats required in the UAE??!?! So this option/delete tells me Porsche has a ECU tunning for this because the engine will flow differently.

I wonder if this has something to do with the new 997 being greener. Maybe even without the catalytic converters they still pass the emissions here. There are three mufflers integrated with the new exhaust. Wonder if that could be the reason.

The option is also available for the ROW GT2 as well, same thing with the 996's back when they were new.
