Color question for 2009's.....

What color has Seal Grey essentially become? Is it Meteor Metallic or is Atlas Grey closer to it? Thanks.

Seal Gray

Atlas which in the first picture really shows the blue hues present in the finish

Meteor Gray

It appears to me Seal has become Meteor, though I would personally either get Atlas or special order Seal. Hope this helps.

I think seal is no longer on the regular color charts. It appears Atlas is as close as you can get w/o special order paint. It is darker than seal. Meteor has brown tones rather than the blue of the seal gray.

Perosnally, I prefer the seal and get tons of compliments on the color. Of course, I am prejudiced (toward my car-not anything else--LOL)

Meteor is closest to Seal. Atlas is way darker - blueish under sunlight, almost black under clouds or in the evening. Had an Atlas 996 and really liked the color.

You would have to special order seal . The problem is that at the launch of the 997 seal grey was plentiful . It even was the promotional choice color . Then (model year 07)Porsche discontinued it which makes a seal car look charateristic of an 05 or 06 .

Those are the reasons I would avoid seal . If I was going to special order a color I would pick one which has been out of production so long that its prsense would clearly reveal its exclusivity and style.

Polar Silver is by far my favorite pick in a cousin category to seal .It's darker than Arctic silver and lighter than seal . I searched google and found a pick on the 993 Turbo which shows the color. http://www.gtclassics.co.uk/previous/turbo1.jpg

Here it is (special order)on a 996tt. http://www.wheelenhancement.com/whee...r%20Silver.jpg

As for meteor /atlas --they are darker grey than seal. Both are great but atlas is special order too.
Slate is yet another (darker than seal) color --also special order for 09.

I like Meteor Gray a lot [The shade is close to Seal Gray].

Atlas Grey is very dark and it is way overpriced.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm gonna have to make the call soon before they start building -- the order goes in this week. The hardest part will be waiting for delivery.

I really like my atlas color. The lighter grays are too common imo.

+1 on Polar silver. That's exactly how silver should look like IMO.

What color did you decide? I am also having a real difficult time with this. Prior car was meteor gray which I loved. Now, I'm trying to decide between the following:

Meteor / Red / White / GT Silver / Aqua Blue (which makes me nervous since I can't see it on a car as of yet.)

Any input?

Gonna go with the Meteor. I really did love the Seal Grey on my previous 4S and Meteor is close enough. The other dilemma is interior -- black ages better, shows less dirt wear but I REALLY like the Sand Beige combo with the Meteor. I wonder if with attentive maintenance the S.B. is a wise choice across, say, three years.
