Hey, it's America and freedom reigns. No one's a poser. We all have the freedom to do whatever we want with our p-cars as long it doesn't impose on other's safety. Whatever turns you on as it provides you with pleasure however suits. No one has the right to tell us how it is to be enjoyed. If it is DD, fantastic; If it is tracking, let it be; if it's blinging, cool; if it is picking us girls or guys, great; If it is for you to just look at it in your garage, fine; and if it is to make up for your inadequacies.... sorry to hear. It's your porsche you paid for it. ENJOY IT!

Pleasure driving and heavy chrome wheels are contradictory. That's all. I am not saying I'm agreeing with any aggressive talk, but I will say that the difference in wheel weight, if you haven't experienced a back to back comparo, is dramatic. Doesn't have anything to do with endangering the lives of those around you. Has to do with Porsche's being more about driving than other cars (where comfort or style might be more important), and the poser thing comes in by wanting to show that you have a fancy badge but don't really care about the driving experience (because you have heavy chrome wheels) and should have bought an XK or something. When I say 'you' I mean whoever, not you per se. I don't mean this towards anyone, but more to explain the mindset of the person's original use of the word 'poser'.

America. Freedom reigns. But some people take advantage of their freedom to pose. Not talking about the chrome wheels here, just the theology. Remember that guy with the yellow Boxster with the huge GT3 stickers all over the B pillars and center console and such. That dude was exercising his freedom to pose. It just ain't a GT3. Or even badass for that matter (useless insertion of my opinion).

True, but if it makes him happy and he doesn't care about what others think. Who are we to tell him what is wrong or right for him. I know I would never do that to my car but I am not him. It's a car not a theological doctrin. Man, I can't believe we can extract so much phylosophy from chrome.

At the risk of giving this thread more attention than it deserves, I find it hard to believe that the extra weight of chrome on a set of Carrera S wheels makes that much difference. Many owners add more weight, I expect, by choosing Sport Designs or Carrera Sports. No one is criticizing them (us) for sacrificing handling for the type of wheels we prefer.

True. I agree. But there's a difference. We're talking about a useless, weight adding flashy plating. I know I'm being theological. I didn't call anyone anything. Just saying... zall...

OK, but that chrome is no more useless to the person that likes the look of it, than a heavy set of Carrera Sport wheels is useless to the person that likes the look of those wheels. Lots of options are useless added weight (power seats, CD changer, Navigation, etc.), but those options, just like chromed wheels, are available to satisfy the personal taste of all owners.

Sometimes I wonder if some of the people who focus on every pound of "extra" weight on a car are packing around an extra 20 or 30 pounds on their bodies. Weight needs to be kept in perspective.

I need to loose some wt may be 30 lbs. Starting tomorrow no more regular soda, cutting down on red meat and portion size, no more junk food just fresh fruit. Start jogging, do some yoga, work out at the gym. May be my porsche will perform better after 3 months. Yah right. Skinny dudes' car is going to win the race.

Dude-

Get Real- Ok now I don't know how much weight my Chrome Wheels add to my car and frankly I do not really care- let's pretend I got the S model to make up for the Chrome on my Carrera Classic's BUT I do know this that at 6ft and safely over 200 lbs I am not going to lose some sleep over the CHROME on my wheels....

But I am really glad someone really would take this THAT seriously...Now really- don't we all have relatively GOOD jobs and aren't we really just "wanna be" speed racer dudes....

Seriously- I know I am going to hear how we are going to get RICH tracking our P-Cars...

So at the end of the day when the sun goes down- this is really just a HOBBY- some more serious than others- but STILL a HOBBY- so if some Fifty year old wanna be (me) wants to throw a little chrome on his wheels- I think the P-Car world should give him a break as long as they are tasteful

That is my story and I am sticking to it...

WOW...I Started a fight! lolool Im a newbie & I Got a thread to 5 pages lol

anywho, I Got a Set of Rims!!! There made by ZONE. Have yous ever heard of them? 3piece rims.

I Think the rear of the car sits too high now because my stock tires are 305-35-19 & the tires on the new rims are 315-25-19 so it seems higher because of the diffrence (look at the pic of the stock rims)

Those rims look pretty good- nice rear lip.
The 25 profile of the rear tires is increasing the fender gap. You need to lower your car and it will look great.

Hey I'm accepting $600 for my 19" Imolas! Rears are 28lbs, fronts a few lbs less. In the FS section-
