Installing OEM SSK, a DIY or go to dealer?

My assumption is that installing an OEM SSK (short shift kit) is a pretty basic DIY job, as it looks like the entire unit is an entire direct replacement.

For those who have done it, how hard was it, what was involved, and should I just pay a C note and get it done at the dealership?

Wow, 24 hours and not a single response!
Well, I did it myself. Took about 1.5 hours, but I could probably do the next one in about 40 minutes.

Hardest part was getting the shift **** and boot off. After install, I couldn't get it back on, either, so right now I am driving with a great short-shifter, but no ****, just a metal rob to shift with. I'll head to the dealership tomorrow and get them to put it on.

I've got a scary pic to post later of the car with nothing between the 2 front seats, and lots of parts and tools on the garage floor. That was the scary part!

It always takes an act of bravery when you attempt something for the first time.

Good job.

Now you can "shift" into high gear doing other projects as well!

No reason why folks can't change the oil in their Ferrari's for @ $130.00 as opposed to $400.00 at the dealer!
