How much are mods worth when buying a car?
cibergypsy- don't sell the Carrera 3.2! I have a 600hp 996tt and an '88 Carrera. I take them both to the track (this doctor does mod and track his cars responsibly) and, honestly, even though cars fly past me when I'm in the old Carrera, it is a FAR more entertaining car out there. The G-50 Carreras are only going to go up in value. Finding a clean and well cared for example gets harder with time. I bought mine from the original owner, my dad, with 128,000 miles and it runs better than ever. Keep it and give it to your kid.

As far as giving the car to my kid, well, since I bought it he told me it was his.
I believe that, due to the fact that any POS turbo'd japanese hot hatch can be faster than the 3.2 in a straight line, it makes sense to give it to my son when he reaches driving age as it would prevent him from engaging in stop light drag races knowing he'll most likely lose but, at the same time, he'll have a car that is leagues better and with a charisma and cachet none of those cars have. I am gearing towards having my kids be knowledgeable, well travelled, polyglots, literate and all rounded individuals with their own sense of style, not trend followers per se. Greetings!
