Navigation solution?

I am looking at a low mileage 2007 997s with every option I want, EXCEPT navigation. Is there a good aftermarket solution that works with the pcm screen? I'm trying to avoid getting a Garmin type unit. Thanks in advance.

I don't suspect there are any aftermarket NAV/GPS units that interface w/ the PCM. The solutions I've seen are using a Pioneer, ECLIPSE, etc. They offer full audio as well as other input features (ie. IPOD, SAT Radio, etc) that wasn't available on the 2007 MY Porsche.

Porsche NAV DVD units and PCM's are offered on eBay and various Porsche forums. I hear the installation isn't particularly tough if you're a DIY'r.

A simple Garmin or TomTom might be your answer unless you're dying for a seamless solution.

Good Luck.

I would contact:

He is a wizard, and I saw what he did as very creative with a Maserati QP.

He is very clever, and I am sure he would have a very viable solution for you.

Hey Greg I figured I would chime in to try to help.

Well there are solutions for your factory PCM to interface with a aftermarket external GPS like Kenwood or Alpine or who ever, but it would be quite a bit of work. NOt hard just time consuming. You would have to take apart the PCM and take a apart a Kenwood or Alpine touch panel and remove the touch screen and hard wire that over the factory PCM screen/ You would have to get RGB ans Sync from each to make work. You would hide the external screen and nav brain in the vehicle. Then with the press of a factory button on your dash the aftermarket nav would come up on the screen and it would also be touch screen navigation. From that, you could add new improved audio, amps, ipod, sat radio, hd tuner, cd changer, bluetooth and all that would be touch screen.

We do this upgrade all the time in Maserati's. It works out pretty nicely.

But this is also a fairly expensive route but it will look completely OEM when done. As for changing the radio and installing a aftermarket double din, it would be a much easier solution and probally the way I would go in this instance.

Good luck and if you have any more question feel free to call and I will do my best to help.

Bests,

if you already have the pcm, the easy route is just to add the oem navigation module (dvd player) to your setup. i've done the complete PCM, module, gps antenna setup in my 7gt3 and it was fairly simple
