997 Mod suggestions

What's the best combination of mods to maximize improvement on a 997? What are the associated costs? Is there anyone in the Dallas area that you can recommend to do the job?

Thanks for any insight!

Go to dealer

Trade in car on a GT3!

All joking aside, what are you trying to improve? Braking, handling, acceleration? All?

Would love to have a GT3 but I'll settle for the 997 for now.

Sorry I wasn't more detailed in the question. I want to improve acceleration especially for 1st gear as my 997 seems slow in 1st gear. BTW, this is my first Porsche and I feel like a freshman...hehehe.

You could install a supercharger, no lag, car is quicker, but very pricey.

I have a set of AWE cats, better breating on the car allows it to rev smoother and faster.

Another option is to install a light weight flywheel, car will rev faster, and be quicker.

Others like chips, or even plenumns. I can't comment on either.

Better exhaust will help. I put a K&N intake on my 996 which made great sound, but once I put on a set of AH sport pipes I picked up noticeable power, 10hp / 12TQ. made for a much perkier car off the line. www.afterhoursautomotive.com > vids of them on my 996 are in the link on my signature. I have a set going on my 997 soon.

There is really not a whole lot to be gained from the 996/997, but a few HP here and there can be picked up. You definitely should consider upgrading the suspension to a set of coilovers, makes the car handle and feel much better. KWv3's are a popular choice as are Bilsteins.

Congrats on your new pcar!
