Its not only paint differences the S has the Same type of Calipers in past generations along with larger brake pads and more reinforcement. These Calipers are set up to where you can remove the brake pads without taking the caliper off the car. The new Standard brake calipers have extra reinforcement on the top side of the calipers. My guess is its the XM radio. Porsche has stated production my delay due to supply issues.

My mistake - the 2009 Order Guide lists smaller rotors for the base model, but apparently that's wrong.
