I ran over an hour straight on the track on Monday at 95 degrees outside temp, and no movement at all.
Lots of previous discussion on water temp readings - seems to be general consensus that temp does't give an accurate reading of actual temps and the gauge rarely, if ever moves off of the center number. Oil temp is a better indicator of wheher the engine is stressed temperature-wise.

I live in the desert near palm springs...outside temps have been 110 - 118 the last few months. I recently installed the 3rd radiator. Oil went from 240-250 in town to 210-220. My install was by my independent in Woodland Hills. Cost about $400 plus the kit for $200.

Tha's great to hear and validates the effectiveness of the extra radiator...I bet the water temp was 175 degrees before and after though?

Who is the independent shop you use in Woodland Hills?

Your water temp will remain the same, the thermostat opens / closes to maintain a constant operating temp. The extra radiator will ensure it never gets too hot though, but don't expect the water temp to be lower.

Nice to see it has a positive effect on reducing oil temp-

I have used Performance Plus (actually in Canoga Park, sorry) for 20 years. This is my 5th Porsche, 4th 911. I've put over 500,000 miles on them and, except for warranty work, they are the only shop that has touched my cars. Honest, knowledgeable shop. Ask for Mark. Of course, no affiliation, etc.

My pleasure. We have lived in Agoura/Thousand Oaks for the last 25 years. So it was actually a relatively short drive. We just moved to La Quinta about 6 months ago. The Porsche stays there now, but we keep a place in Glendale near my office. We come in for a couple days per week in my wife's car (Volvo V70R) so the mileage on the 997 has been cut dramatically. I will still only take the car to Mark, though, unless it is a warranty issue. I do oil changes myself, so I won't need to take the car to him too often.

Thanks for the info. I am not too far from Canoga Park. Always nice to know about other shops that are around besides the ones I frequent.

Found the third radiator for a bit less than Suncoast for those interested:

dndodd is infamous around these parts
I have the 3rd radiator and noticed the drop in Oil temp too.

Installed it myself, it was fairly easy.

Just remember if you are using the stock bumper cover to cut holes in the bottom to let the air pass through.

I used the hole dimensions from a tip car to make it look factory.

Cut what? there's nothing that needs cutting. You remove the center dummy cover and replace it with the new one that comes with the kit..

I think he is talking about the standard bumper not the aerokit/GT3 bumper.
