2009 911 sport exhaust
2009 911 sport exhaust
I assume it works the same way as before, meaning that it is loud under 2500 rpm, and then quiet until 4500rpm, then loud again? I wish it would just stay loud all the way as long as the button is left "ON". I would love to order the PSE if it just stays loud or quiet throughout the rpm range depending on the button position.
Any insights or suggestions?
Thanks.

Yeah, but then I would lose the controllability of the sound with the button, right? I want to use the button to make it loud thru out the range, or quiet thru out the range.
If the 09 version is set up the same, then suggest you would re-wire to a separate switch so the DME control is bypassed. I turn mine on and off at will, at any rpm. That way I don't need to deal with having to be in Sport mode either.
Interesting. So do we need to run new wires from the exhaust and run it to a new switch? And it will stay quiet or loud throughout the rpm, depending on the position of the switch?
Well, in the case of installing one from scratch like I did, I used the wiring that came with the PSE system, but only used the ground and power lead wires and ignored the rest. For a factory-installed version, I'm not sure what is involved in disconnecting the DME part of the wiring and re-routing the leads going to the sport button to a new switch like mine. If the leads going to the sport button are power and ground, then perhaps they can be intercepted and routed to a separate switch like mine. But I don't know the details of the wiring for the factory installed version.
You're right, with my setup, if I switch it "on", the pse is loud all the time, at all revs. If I switch if off, it is quiet at all revs. I am simply controlling the mufflers directly through the switch without any intervention by the DME as is the case in factory installs.

It depends on how mechanically capable, energetic, and patient you are. Also, factory PSE is covered under warranty. It may be easy to modify the factory version to allow more control like mine, but I haven't researched this. It may only require disconnecting the leads that go to the DME so that the Sport button (assuming you have Sport Chrono) will turn it on and off without any over-ride by the DME.

I know. Oh well. I guess that's my only choice anyway. Hopefully they can miraculously have it available sooner. BTW, when is the first month of production for the C4S cab for the US?
Our first car is a Nov allocation.
