I drove a PDK

After much anticipation, the PDK launch cars arrived today in Dallas. They would have been here sooner, but the Houston Port has been shut down due to hurrican Ike. I have to say that the PDK was difficult to understand at first, being a 430 F1 guy, but once I got the deal down, I was in awe of how fast it shifted and you hardly felt anything on the shift. It was a Carrera S Cab. Dealer had the new blue and racing green. Didn't care for either color. Here's the bad news. I have had several 997 turbo's, and I am thinking this car with launch control is way quicker than a turbo manual. I have no proof here, but that car is quick. Didn't get enough time on the touch screen, but I kinda liked it.

i drove a C2S today here in Austin

the launch control is NUTS

the 2 sport modes are super cool as well, but the things that stood out for me was the touchscreen, launch control and the MUCH thicker steering wheel

To all the guys, including me, who thought that the shifting deal would suck, it does not take long to like this deal. I still prefer F1, but this is a fast/good car. I like all those things too. It was cool to feel the wheel hop on launch control. We kinda broke the "breakin" rules of Porsche. Sorry. Not.

I made sure to "test" the launch control every 1.5 miles

it was nuts to look down and see the gear selector say 7.

amazing car

would I trade if offered? in a heartbeat.

would I pay the difference? nope

I like more power, but for a daily driver, I think the C4S might be one of the best cars by far. I am anxious to see some 0-60 numbers on launch control. I am now a 997.2 fan. I would buy one, but I have paid enough for Porsches in the past that I could get 2 for what I have in a GT2. Better buy one now in US while the market is a touch soft and the dollar goes so far.

I drove the green one at Park Place. Coupe S with the sport. Don't like the green, but loved the sand interior. Had it several times. Try to hurt that car, but don't let them ride with you.

I will stay old school for a long time to come. I was at a track day this week and a buddy was there with his V8 M3 with DSG (or what ever BMW calls it) and it didn't sound the same as a manual when it shifted, almost sounded like a CVT.
