Funny I'm in the same boat as you. Business has been rough and I need to make room in my garage and will probably part with the R8 next spring I'm looking for a used 997 or Cayman S I can drive all year round and take to the track and not feel guilty about it.

I was looking at the 997S you posted, it's got all the right equipment for me but was eyeing the silver C4 at the same dealer. Either way I have all winter to think about it and will probably find some better deals in the spring as people come out of their 3 year leases on 2006 C4 and C4S.

If you ever get the P-car you need to go take those driving lessons at Tremblant and start tracking your car once in a while (Not to mention now with all the **** traffic enfocement your driver's license won't last very long with a sports car!)

hey

you could probably get some good deals in winter also...
i am kinda eyeing the c63 real badly...i dont know less compromise than a p in my case and its got all the tech toys i like.
do a lot of ppl go to the tremblant track, i have always known about it, but never gone, thought you had to have a ferrari or somthing just to get in.
tell me about the cops here, now they have started hiding on the 20 west in the middle of the night, in ditches... do u have a scanner?

you used to drive mercedes and YOUR worried about depreciation???? I think mercedes depreciate BIG time way more then a porsce any day of the week.

If i were you the new 09 911 with the auto is supposedly awesome and a blast to drive. I am a 6 speed guy all day long, but seems like you would benefit from this tranny alot more. The new 9ll is faster to, so who knows if you pick up a c2 and it feels just as fast as a 07 c2s? I would get a new 09 911 c2, I think that i gonna be your best bet to be honest with the new tranny.

I don't think you want either in Montreal winters. I would definitely look for a C4 or C4S. You get a lot of snow and a awd 911 would be much more appropriate, easier to drive, slightly safer with snow tires (tyres ), and comparable in dry weather conditions.

Can you drive either in snow, yes, but a C4 or C4S is the better car for year-round Canadian weather

I've just driven a cayman S with tip from the opc when they need to replace my horn on my 997S cab.
I think there is no comparison between the 987S vs 997S. The 997S is much smoother and free on acceleration / suspension / brakes....anything....
I have to push so hard to get to 100mph in the cayman, but in the 997S, i don't even realize i got up to 100.
For handling, I have more fun in my 997 than in the cayman. I don't know why, but I got lost control on one of the corner I did so fast everytime around 50 in my 997, (well I thought the cayman has a better handling, so i think the cayman can handle it)
Nothing serious, but oversteer....
anyway, the 997S worth every penny over the cayman....

Good luck

Although I loved the handling of the Cayman S I preferred the openess of the 911. That's why I decided to buy a 911 in the future. I am currently a Mercedes C55 owner who is trying to sell theirs for a Porsche. I have to say that the C63 is pretty bad car that has the speed, HP and cargo room for a weekend trip for 4. Sucks gas and never will handle like a Porsche but a great compromise.

thanks...ideal car would be 911 pdk, but not in my price range.
cayman s even loaded the way i want is expensive for me, but i want to be happy wiht my car at the end of the day and if an extra 8 gs does that its worth it, according to me,
c63 has lots of things going for it, size, tech, comfort, easy, price, power
cayman s...porsche, looks, interior is rich but lacking, handling,

Not to derail you from the Porsche but if you are going to buy a C63 buy one in about a year when you can get a used one at a much better price than now. You'll save a bunch of money.

Very True, I test drove the C63 and it was a thought, a brief one though as a new one loaded at 73k would most likely be 56k in a year?
All high cars take a hit, I just couldn't see the C63 holding up as well as a PCAR over time

I decided for me, a 911 was they way to go. C63 is a beast, a "sedan" on roids, but it is a sedan IMO, great car, but not a PCAR.
