Quad S tips not fitting on my Carrera

i just ordered some quad tips off ebay and they are not for sport exhaust and the diameter is a bit larger on the new tips then my stock ones. are these usually supposed to fit carrera S and carrera?

Carrera S exhaust outlet pipe is a much larger diameter than non-S outlet pipe.
You'll need to use some sheetmetal shims to take up the extra space, or upgrade your exhaust to something for S cars. The AfterHours pipes for example are sized for S tips, and the smaller diameter of your stock ovals would not fit.

I bought some ebay fake-S tips and they came with a set of shims, I used the shims on my non-S stock exhaust. When I put on the AH exhaust I didn't need the shims.

hope this helps-

So adaptors are available? I've been torn because I do want to replace my non-S oval tips with some nice quad tips - on my stock exhaust for now (just because I think they look better). But I didn't want to have to replace them again ($$) if I decide to upgrade my exhaust system later (since aftermarket exhaust systems all seem to use S-sized pipes & tips). I wouldn't want some mickey-mouse solution (no offence to Disney) where the tips might fall off either.
MarcCyberWiz: did you find a decent / properly fitting adaptor?

Sounds good. Just out of curiosity, do you know what the difference in pipe size is between the S and non-S?

Measure the outside diameter of your stock base pipes. Then measure the inside diameter of the S tips you bought... that should tell you (and us).

You are 20 years old and you own all three?

07 997 Carrera Speed yellow
08 R32 Deep Blue Pearl
08 CBR 600RR Honda Red

Do you always keep the spoiler raised on the 911?

I too own an '08 R32 [Candy White]... Good choice!

Even with a shim, the tip might not be tight enough. I assume the shim you are talking about is a slotted segment of pipe. Have the shim & tip tack welded to the muffler pipe.
