to supercharge a 997?
You aren't crazy. It's that I've never known of anyone other than EvoMS getting a run like that in the 1/4 mile. Maybe if they rented the track and had enough time to try and try and try and try, it's possible. Well, of course it is because they show the video of it. But a turbo would be much easier to get an optimal run.
However, I will say that when I ran it (12.12, I believe) I had 20s and no limited slip, and that was my first try that day. I had a good bit of axle hop. I think my trap was 116 though, in that run.
But I've done many acceleration runs from a roll... 5mph to 40mph, and the turbo is simply faster.
I have one, dude. I run it. I'm not scared to push it. I also know how to drive decently. I'm just saying that a turbo has always won in every face off that I've done with one in a straight line. However, the weight, lack of communication, and overall yuckiness of all wheel drive (sorry for being so opinionated here, but I feel this strongly) all contribute to the turbo being slower on back roads and every track that I run, which is 3 tracks very often.
Just trying to help.

maybe the stated #'s are bloated ??
Also, I only can assume that the numbers are bloated or that everything in those kits didn't make it to production for some reason or other. That dyno graph that I posted was actually done AT VF Engineering. They said that my car was running to spec and that all was good (they had it because I hadn't hooked it up just right when I had the engine and trans out putting the LSD, LWFW, etc in). So they hooked it up for me, took care of me a ton, and said that the car was running 'to spec'. However, that exhaust had a huge pinch point, and I remedied that immediately. I am positive by my ***-dyno that now I have more power. But I still didn't have near the grunt as a 997TT with a chip, exhaust, and intake system did. I ran with him for 2 days, and nope.
I'm with you too on that. It's not like you'll get slaughtered from 40-100, but you'll be back a car length by then, if not by 120. In retrospect, I've never run a BONE STOCK TT. They've all had at least an exhaust or chip. I was going back through my runs and I'm pretty sure none were stock.

id like to see a STOCK 997TT vs a SC997 run from 40 to 130
going on trap speeds alone, the SC *should* win
I have a 06 997S cab, that I bought to take my twin boys out for a top down ride. I have owned the car for about 2 and a half years, and have close to 90K into the car (including a VF SC kit), there is very little in the car that has not been replaced, even had suspension pieces made out of CF and titanium is make them lighter and stronger. This car is my 39th and last Porsche, and I never instead to part with it, as it would be impossible to duplicate. I have been moding car for over 30 years, and have lost tens of thousands of dollars in the process, and a SC kit is alot of money. As far as its abilty, it has taken a TT, a 430 (mine), and was faster than my stock Gallardo
Wow. I'm impressed. I've taken a 430 on a track, but never ran it in a line. Never even been around a Gallardo with the chance to run 'em.
When you say "has taken", what kind of runs were they? From a dead stop to 120? A roll? On a road course? Sounds like a nice car.

My 997S has no traction control (I had it removed) so from a dead stop it takes a perfect start to take the 430, but from a rolling start (which really is the 997 best power band) the 997 was clearly faster. My Gallardo has about 560hp right now and the 997 can not match it. Thanks for the complement
As for how it sounds, here's the only clip I have. Fabryce at GMG shot it. I didn't know he was filming through the middle section. I should splice it to make it less stupid, but it sounds awesome, imho.

Not too much. On cold mornings you can hear it a bit before it warms up. I also can hear mine when I bog it a bit (throttle it from 2500 RPMs). You hear it pretty good, but it's not a 'wee', more of a 'wooooooooooooosh'. It's rad.
I am thinking about doing the VF supercharger in a year, when my 997 2S Cabrio goes out of warranty. I already have some $13K in aftermarket, about $9K of that into the motor. I also put a lot of miles on, around 33K so far and will take a hit on that whenever I sell the car.
You can hear the blower. It's kind of faint thought. Not nearly as bad as the TPC. That kit is obnoxious and would get old very quick....
