Exclamation Porsche sales plummet

Porsche posted a 50.1% plunge to 1,427 units from 2,862 a year ago. Boxster and Cayman sales fell to 153 units from 706 a year ago, and sales of the 911 model fell to 584 units from 972 a year ago. Porsche's sales were even lower than Detriots!

I am sure that Porsche's announcement of the 997.2 slowed things down for them, how many people went off and bought a older version after they heard the news? I think the 987 platform is an economic issue.

On the plus side this may mean that our cars will retain more of their value once the economy turns around!

All dealers are sucking fumes at the moment. I've been called by 3 MBZ dealers that have the "impossible" to get C63 in stock and are offering discounts.

I guess the economy in the Bay Area is doing better because if my MBZ dealer called me and told me he had a C63 we'd be over there checking it out right now.

Not sure if you saw this on Motor Authority yesterday. http://www.motorauthority.com/porsch...-slowdown.html
Porsche planning year-end production slowdown
Even as Volkswagen rockets to all-time highs in terms of market capitalization and Porsche's acquisition of the company begins to become more amicable, the company is announcing it will be slowing production from December 22 through January 9. Tough financial times have put a collar on even the elite German carmaker, but the time won't be left completely idle - upgrades to the production line will take place during the downtime.

The cessation at the Zuffenhausen plant is actually an extension of a traditional holiday break. The extra three days will be used to perform the upgrade and help bring production back in line with demand, reports The Detroit News. The Zuffenhausen facility is Porsche's main plant, employing about 1,000 workers.

A similar maneuver is being considered at Volkswagen as well, joining a growing list of carmakers having to rationalize output to meet record low levels of consumer demand over the last few months. Already General Motors and BMW have made similar announcements for their European facilities.

No word has been released on the volume by which production will be reduced, but Porsche has discussed moving some of its production of the Boxster, currently on contract to the Finnish firm Valmet, back into its own facilities if the current downturn continues.
