In the end, there is no "wrong" choice here. I much preferred the2009 car, which I hope to have in my hands in the next 3 to 4 weeks.

Thanks. Can I ask, did you get PDK?

I did not choose the PDK gearbox. I do believe it is the very best of the breed, but I can't stand them. I derive a great deal of pleasure from getting the gearchange right. I find myself feeling very detached from the car as a whole when using any of these semi-auto gearboxes, as there is just no feeling of mechanical interaction.

This article on the Cayman does a better job of explaining my own feelings about it than I can.

Hope that helps a little.

Unless the 997.1 is priced ridiculously low, I'd go for the 997.2; a much better car, imo.

The 997.1 S was priced ridiculously low. It was also perfectly optioned - sport chrono, sport exhaust, nav, Bose, etc. In the end, it was the "version 1.0" argument that tipped the scales - that, and the fact that I spent about 15K less on the 2008 S than I would've on the 2009 base.

Thanks for all your help.

you could spend 15k easily in the mods, that the 09' already has stock.

Guess I didn't know that. Can you tell me what 15K of mods the 2008 S has that the 09 base has stock?
