Hi all. When tracking your pcar, I have noticed some guys apply tape to the front bumper and light ect. Is this needed, what happens when you don't? I will track my car for the first time in Jan. Thanks for your advice..

 

I don't do any tape only car. I have picked up a few marks, but nothing serious.

some tracks will want you to tape your headlights even though they are plastic and not glass...so take some racers tape just in case...

 

Blue tape is used to protect the paint from chips.

I tape my headlights because if a rock hit them its a very expensive day at the track.

My friend got a huge crack in his windshield last time and it was a way more expensive track day than he wanted.

So some guys have a clear bra put on there windshield.

 

After getting a nasty chip, I clear bra'd my entire front. I used to put on racer's tape around the exterior part of the wheel wells; however, I stopped doing it b/c the residue was becoming a pain to remove.

 

Tape the lights perhaps, but a little road rash is part of life for a tracked car.
