Guys

My friend has a 2005 997
He wants to do the rear led's like the new 997.2

What is involved in doing this ?

one person says u can keep the stock gen 1 bumper, but mod it
someone else says u need the gen 2 bumper ...

whats the official verdict ?

I am sure both are doable and in either case modifications to either the bumper itself or to the mounting brackets need to be made. Personally I think its a lot of money spent on not a lot of payoff.
