Battery chargers

Currently I'm using this Battery Tender on a few of my cars, works like a charm. Happens to be inexpensive.

What is recommended for the 997? Go with one off the battery leads or as the parts guy at the dealer recommended one via the cigarette lighter.

I've seen this one (on ebay as an example) but it's a bit pricey. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche-Battery-Charger-911-Boxster-Cayman-Cayenne_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66 Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c2 93Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZ item380091186497QQitemZ380091186497QQptZMotorsQ5fC arQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Try www.sunsetimports.com. They sell genuine Porsche parts for dealer cost plus 15%. I think mine came out to about $110 plus shipping a while ago.

I use the OEM charger and paid less than $100 at my dealership after my PCA discount. It is super easy to use and works like a charm.

I use the CTEK also. Exactly the same charger as the Porsche Charge-O-Mat, but no Porsche logo. Works great.

+1 to the CTEK 3300 charger. Have it plugged into my GT3RS and all is well.

I've have a Battery Tender, Porsche battery maintainer and a CTEK charger and I've used each on my 997, Boxster and Cayenne. Each seems to work equally well, but the bigger CTEK has more bells and whistles and goes into maintenance mode faster.

I called Deltran in FL (Battery Tender manufacturer) asking about cigarette lighter adapter and they send me one for free the next day. Great customer service!

Went with the CTEK Porsche charger - I was holding out with the false hope that I'd actually get to drive the car soon. Unfortunately with the snow and salted streets it's not going anywhere soon and I had to breakdown and buy the charger.

Oh well -it would be better if I could just drive and recharge!

I like the charger and I didn't want to drain the battery so now all I need is for spring to hurry up, or at least for the roads to clear.

Hardwired

I use Battery Tenders.
On the 997 C4S and Cayenne TS I have them hardwired directly from the battery, (Battery connection under the hood on the Cayenne), to locations on the front bumper.
The 997 C4S location is just under the front bumper on the right side and the Cayenne TS is to the Toe hook hole.

Easy connect/disconnect and no need to access the inside of either vehicle.

What type of connector are you using? Could you post pictures of hardwire connector you use in your C4S?

Thank you in advance.

I use the Battery Tender via a cigarette lighter adapter. I run it out the tilted sunroof in my enclosed garage. If you already have a Battery Tender, not sure why you'd want to buy something new...?

Flying Cat,

I used the included plug but simply extended the wire. It is connected directly to the battery and then run down to a small existing hole near the front right bottom side of the bumper. I drilled a small hole adjacent to the existing hole and put a zip-tie there to hold it into position.

I simply wanted an easy method to connect without having to access the interior.
PM me your address and I will send a couple of pics when I get home from this trip.
