Depends on what you want.

3pc forged wheels were originally created for motorsport but it is true now that most 3pc are not motorsport oriented, especially the deep-lip reverse drop center type (which we still sell a lot of). At HRE these are designed for the street. We make sure they're still lightweight, but they're not intended for racing, although some people do. Most people like this type of 3pc wheel because there are a lot of options in terms of personalization that simply are harder to accomplish with a 1pc wheel.

Standard drop center 3pc like our Competition C90s is a traditional 3pc forged wheel designed with a track orientation. Low weight and low rotational inertia was the primary factor and styling definitely took a back seat, although they're still pretty damn sexy. Maybe it's because I like the purposeful styling though a lot of us at HRE look at these as our favorites.

Our P40s and other Monobloks were also designed primarily for the street but once again they're designed to be lightweight. I could have made them weigh 18lbs but they wouldn't last very long and our intention at HRE is to always make sure our wheels are strong first as safety has to be the primary concern. Over the years we've gotten more and more conservative on this front and our wheels have gotten stronger and stronger as a result. Years of experience simply has shown us that it isn't worth it to try and cheat physics if you want to be in business for the long-term.

The P40 is my personal favorite (she's my little baby!) but if I were taking my car primarily to the track, I would probably run C90s. P40s will work though, but you have to run 19" tires. If you're seriously thinking of tracking the car then 18" tires are a necessity and C90s in 18" are a great option.

HRE has also just created an 18" race wheel (designed specifically for the track) that is a 1pc forged design. Currently it is available for the E92 M3 and Fall Line Motorsport is going to be racing and selling it for us in 2009, but we hope to have something similar soon for the 911.

I hope that helps and gives you a relatively objective opinion from someone that offers all 3 choices.

You need to check these out. Still available with or without tires at a huge savings from list and one of the lightest wheels Champion produces. They fit nicely over the Brembo 15 inch rotors and would look killer on a black car. I happen to know that the seller is motivated

Those are nice and the offset is perfect. They would look nice on my red 09.
