my warranty expires in Sept 2009 so I'm in the same boat. If I add Damptronics will it void the factory and/or extended warranty?

ZSChicagl, Did you attempt to negoiate the price. I am in the same situiation, my 06S will be out of warrantee in about 8 months. I have 11K miles, and am looking for a price range to start discussion with the dealer.

I called the dealer I bought the car from first. Thats where I got the price listed in this post. I called another dealer in Chicago, who also uses easycare, and they quoted me $100 more. So looks like there is a little negotiating possible.

Also check into another extended warranty company called Fidelity Warranty Services Inc. All the dealers in Southern California here sell them and swear by them. They are selling for less than Easy Care. They are also the underwriters for Audi's factory warranty. I also talked to several Porsche Certified Independant shops locally and they say Fidelity is equally as good as Easy Care in coverage and paying their claims. I am getting a 6yr/60K extended for $2200 with a $100 deductible. Same program with Easy Care is $3300 with a $250 deductible.

I've been following this and a couple of the other EW threads and got motivated for my 06S with 17,000 odometer. Just got a quote from Porsche of Orlando ( they must be busy, it took 16 days) using Western General. 4 different level packages. Prices for a 36/45,000 $100 ded. ranged from $2502 for the basic power train only to $5,649 for the "full", which they represented as "similar to the original new car warranty". Read the WG brochure, however and you'll find that things like towing have a $75 max (I had to have mine brought in from 110 miles out a couple of years ago) and other major limitations - neither the clutch nor 'related assemblies' , whatever the hell that means, are covered. Even more important, the way I read it you are expected to have the selling dealer perform the services although there is an "emergency repair benefit" (their words).

Overall, this is pretty expensive peace of mind, kind of like spending 50k a year for homeowners insurance on a 500k house. One other caveat - in today's economic scenerio you better read the fine print and you better check out who is funding (owns) these warranty companies; you can bet the dealer isn't going to perform if the company goes under.

I have done alot of research into extended warranty's and Easy Care and Fidelity are the largest and most reputable. Some extended warranty companies require the shop to use scrapyard parts or refurbished parts as opposed to new ones from Porsche! Can you beleive this!! Anyways after many months of research, it seems EasyCare or Fidelity are the way to go. Anyways I'm going to get one and if I have any issues, will be sure to post.....
