Is that Porsche part? I just picked up my '09 C4S three days ago and it won't charge the iPhone 3GS.

Yes, it is a Porsche part. I ordered it from Board Sponsor Suncoast Motorsports.

Guidance for DIY

Was wondering whether anyone who has tackled this install could provide some guidance...

The TSB has a couple of steps that refer back to the Workshop Manual. How to perform these steps are not described in detail in the TSB, but perhaps they will become obvious to me as I start poking around.

What is purpose of this step?

1.1 Connect battery charger. Workshop Manual ’2X00IN03 Battery trickle charging’

I would appreciate any guidance or pictures for the following steps:

1.2 Remove PCM3.0. Workshop Manual ’911019 Removing and installing PCM display and operator control unit’

1.3 Remove center console. Workshop Manual ’681719 Removing and installing centre console’

1.4 Remove plug socket from center console. Workshop Manual ’90581900 Removing and installing plug socket’

Any pitfalls to watch out for?

Thanks in advance.

1.1 Connect battery charger. Workshop Manual ’2X00IN03 Battery trickle charging’

almost all steps about messing with electronics start like that. done without it.

1.2 Remove PCM3.0. Workshop Manual ’911019 Removing and installing PCM display and operator control unit’

trim pops out (start at bottom) then 4 screws and unit slides forward (2 min)

1.3 Remove center console. Workshop Manual ’681719 Removing and installing centre console’
this depends on where you want to put ipod, mine is cayenne so there is compartment in cener console with key in it to remove consoole in case your car is automatic and needs towing (read car manual)

1.4 Remove plug socket from center console. Workshop Manual ’90581900 Removing and installing plug socket’

nothing really but remember that you neeed a code once you buy this set and the code can only be put into PCM by a dealer with PIWIS (computer). so after install you still need coding (15 min)
Any pitfalls to watch out for?

Thanks in advance.

Can't figure out how to remove pcm3 in 997.2

well, finally attempted this today, and the 997.2 is different.

i couldnt figure out how to remove the pcm3.

the unit should slide forward, but i couldnt figure out how to get it loose.

Unlike the cayenne, there are not 4 screws in front.

there are 4 tension clips on the sides, and above each one, a hex nut (size 5 or 6). it seems like you need to push in the clips from the side, and slide the unit forward. i also tried turning the hex nut, but still, couldnt get the pcm to slide out.

anybody removed the pcm3 in a 997.2? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
