anyone else having a problem with the airbag shutoof on 08 997?

Overtime some one sits in the passenger seat of my car it randomly shuts off the airbag, and its an annoying light in the cabin once the airbag is disengaged! Has anyone else experienced this problem? The airbag is on when no one is in the seat, but when someone sits in it, the light goes on and the airbag is off! WTF?!? its suppose to be opposite!

I think that you have a faulty sensor. I would take it to the dealer.

I have my 5 year old in the car often. He is in a booster seat and it is a nice option.

it should be a switch that is in the glove box or something, not something that is on or off according to weight, what happens if you have an incredibly fat baby??

Is the person in the passenger seat wearing a seatbelt? Maybe if there is a person in the passenger seat with no seatbelt engaged it trips the airbag off warning.

I know if you plug the seatbelt in with nobody sitting in the passenger seat the airbag disengage warning comes on.

my passenger did not wear his seatbelt until I took my first corner then quickly put it on. It did it both times.

tguerino is infamous around these parts
I think you may have the passenger airbag turned off. I generally keep the airbag switched off because of child issues. When no-one is on the seat, the light you refer to stays off and only comes on when someone sits in the seat.

I like the way the feature works because the airbag light does not come on unless someone is in the seat...which in my opinion is a good thing because it reminds you the airbag is off and you can then determine if you want it to be off or not.

The key lock to turn the passenger airbag on or off is lcoated on the passenger side (open passenger door and look on the side of the glovebox and turn key lock to "on" position).

talked to the dealer...
This happens when the seat is ALL the way back as far as the seat can go. He told me to push the seat a 1/2" or so forward and you should be all set. We shall try this tonight!

PS.. there is no switch in these cars, they can be installed at an additional charge. There is a sticker with an airbag symbol where this key switch should be! I knew I wasnt THAT retarded!!

moving the seat back like the dealer told me had NO effect on the light. I might just have a backwards switch. there is NO ONE else that is having this problem?
