Fresh Paint & Track Advice

I'm currently getting my new GT3 front bumper painted and mounted this week.

I have planned a 2 day track event this weekend.

My body shop told me to wait 1-2 weeks before clear bra-ing my car again.

The track is 200 miles away and i will have 2 track days.

So i will not be able to clear bra and will have no paint protection!

Someone suggested using painters tape in the time being, but im worried about it damaging my paint as well.

Should i just for-go the weekend or charge!

I wouldn't mount it yet...just the bug kills during a 200 mile drive will do in the new paint...painters tape might be better for the paint than racers tape but won't provide much impact protection and could still mar the paint since it will be soft...why not wait until after the event or are you missing a front bumper at this point...

I agree with Chuck, waiting is the best solution. In fact let the paint harden for two weeks at the painter, then get the clear bra installed, finally mount it.

If a rock hits your bumper at the track, who cares!

Pointby is infamous around these parts
Rocks WILL go right through painters tape. Especially on any sharp edges.

Better yet, leave that new cover cure for a month, then put on the ClearBra.

Yeah I always recommend waiting at least 30 days before installing a clear bra. If not it could damage the clear coat if you ever go to remove it.
