Who would trade their 911 for an M3?
A ignorant 997 owner can learn, however an arrogant M3 owner will never change.
Are you so daft that you don't know what Arrogant means?

Car and Driver never said the brakes performed badly, that is something the 997 guys here invented and it was actually the opposite. The brakes are superb, the car did stop in less distance than the 911 and did outbrake it on the track. The only negative about the M3 brakes was after 3 laps around Laguna Seca they began to soften.
Holy crap!! Are we back to the M3 discussion again?? I thought that we ended this in the other thread? Where is Tim when you need him? Bring out the whip Tim. I'd rather talk about his 911 Club Coupe. Now that is a cool car.
Hi crocrr,
Good to see you here. I've been busy organizing an M3groupbuy. I have a lot of 997 owners that want to "trade up" to the M3, but the problem is nobody has any M3 available for sale.
Ever since the big bosses at the BMW headquarter got a hold of the C & D magazine, they were overjoyed by the "big win" of M3 over the 997. They had decided to raised the MSRP of M3 by $30000.
I've found an used 2008 M3 that was involved in 2 previous accidents and had 80000 miles on it. The owner is asking for $5000 over MSRP. I'm trying to talk him down to MSRP. My club coupe may be up for sale if he agrees...
Here's a teaser picture of the club coupe.

Kevin, this is a two part thread, the first part was a thread questioning the C&D comparo between the M3 and 997.2C2.
Hey Buddy,
I've been waiting at home but you didn't show up.
Anyway, I happened to have three F430s in my garage - red, yellow and green. Which one you want? I just updated my signature, too many toys to list, the only car that I don't have is an M3.

Glad that we are having fun on the internet. That's one main reason that I come onto 6speed. I keep telling people not to take internet arguments seriously, as you never know if you're arguing with a 16 y.o., or a trillionaire like me. Talk to you later.
For some good reading, take a look at the posts over at the popular M3post forum here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=72
Start reading through on the first page of active posts and there are all sorts of posts about failure of the DCT to downshift, DCT stalling, weirdo error messages on the display, and on and on. Owners are desperate enough to have set up some of these posts as polls and some make threats to sell their cars (although I doubt anyone would do it).
When someone posted there about a very nasty throttle lag when coming out of corners, another user jumped in with a comment like "do we really need another thread on this?? use the search function!"
Some of the posts about the new M3 are priceless, like these:
"On the way here someone almost rear ended me because it stalled/paused so badly."
"The throttle repsonse delay is worse than before the update..."
"I did notice that there is a weird 2nd gear low speed "power loss/lag" issue now."
"My car has started giving the "increased emissions" message -- twice, so far."
"Been discussed on the forum at length. Many of us have it...report it to the dealer."
"I simply CANNOT believe people STILL post about this in NEW threads. It's unbearable!"
"This 'lag'-problem is really annoying me. My second car is a 5 year old 530dA, and I prefer that car to drive with... "
This is why you don't want to buy/sell/trade your way into a new M3. My 997 C4S does exactly what it's supposed to do exactly when I want it to. It never stalls, or lags, or throws any exceptions, and never ever has to be rebooted...No BS from it whatsoever.

>he says that his car wouldn't down shift under heavy braking
And the braking doesn't have to be all that "heavy," either, from what I've been reading. People are posting about the failure to downshift when just having some good fun in spirited driving around town - i.e., the way the car is supposed to be driven.

No thanks to the Dual Clutch Gear Boxes, make mine a Manual Transmission!
