Not another baby car seat question…

I have searched the site and found lots of great information on the types of car seats that will fit in the rear of a 997. Thank you.

My question is about getting the kid into the car seat. My current summer car is a 2003 BMW M3 (E46). The front passenger seat leans forward and lifts all the way to the dash. This allows pretty good access to the rear of the car. I can lean the seat forward, then place one foot in the back and put my daughter in her car seat without much problem.

I am looking at buying a 2009 997. How difficult is it to get your child into the car seat? My daughter is only 14 months old. So until she is old enough to climb into the car seat, I am going to have to lean in and place her in the seat.

Thoughts?

Thank you

Iggy is infamous around these parts
I don't know if you're considering one but Targa would solve this problem. With hatch up, you can have easy access to the back seats and the baby seat. Search You tube, you should find a short movie...

I have a '07 Turbo .. my son, currently almost 3 - has sat in the back passenger seat since birth .. I took the rear passenger seat cushions off and there is plenty of seats. When I accelerate he giggles .. i just lean the front seat up and no issues. I sort of push him in hiney first and he goes right in.

Only the seatback movement is instant. It's not like the M3 (I have the same model) where the whole seat moves straight up and towards the dash at the same time. In the 997 if you want forward movement of the whole seat you have to wait an eternity for the electric seat to buzz forward. There's not a lot of room unless you have the seat always forward, or unless you have a convertible.

911's with kids are really only meant for that age range after car seats but before teens.

You'll have no problem. My eldest is 4 and I can easily lift her in to her seat (she can climb in, but daddy is a little OCD about her shoes potentially scuffing the backs of the seats!), by just lifting the handle on the seat that moves the seat manually forward. No need to electrically move the seat bottom forward.

My youngest is 16 mos and the procedure is the same.

Go for it. I did and have zero regrets.

If you have a cab, ok. Coupes fit kids from 0 on up. Believe me, I know...

My son is 3 and it's a breeze. I use the Porsche JR. seat, which I recommend. 15% off at the dealership with PCA Membership.

My 4 yr old daughter uses the Porsche Junior Seat as well. Fits perfectly in the back - no issues whatsoever.

Check ebay and craigslist as well - I picked up a lightly used one on ebay for $300 - worth every penny. Also check out www.sunsetimports.com - 15% over dealer cost.

I believe I have a Evenflo, my son is 16 months old. I put the car seat in with a pad under so it doesn't wrinkle the leather, its a pain in the ***, ducking in the back and trying to pass the seatbelt through the back of the baby seat.
You know what though every time he sees the Porsche he goes crazy, vroom vroom dada, vroom vroom, its priceless....
