997.2 GT3 Wing to a 997 carrera S is it possible

Hey guys i fell in love with the 997.2 gt3 wing and wanted to swap it on my 997 carrera S. Are the deck lids compatible to make this swap possible? and if not are vendors thinking of making this a possibility? My goal is to get the aero kit front bumper with the new wing..

I do not think any of us here have seen the new 09 GT3 in person yet. The car will be unveialed soon at a Euro car show.

Now, the new 09 GT3 wing looks a lot like the Vorsteiner wing.

clcik this link...http://www.vorsteiner.com/porsche/

I hope this helps you out,

I'm fairly sure it wont fit. Even though the new GT3 has an increased engine capacity of 3.8litres, it's still based on the "old" GT1/964 engine block meaning the air intake is on the opposite side to that of the 996/7 series engines. Put simply, the twin scoops and fan placement of the GT3 lid (and wing) dont match to the 997 air intake. As for the lid itself, it's a straight swap - same mounts.
Now, if you make a custom airbox......

Not easy and on the inside the engine/intake side is completely different so no chance it'll line up either;(

Kind of wondering why you'd want to do this anyway? On the street all you would be doing is increasing aerodynamic drag, which in turn slows the car down. The reason for any wing like this is for downforce on the track at about 150 MPH and up. My 997S at 145+ with stock pop-up wing was just as stable at Watkins Glen as my 997 GT3 was at 145+. Top speed is lower with a wing too - more HP in the GT3 tries to make up for it.

Ron, I agree but any extra downforce you can get on the front and rear for the track I will take (hence the reason I'm getting the 997.1 GT3 kit on my 997).

But for the street is just for looks and as you said increases weight and drag.

But it sure as hell looks nice!

+1, my car has not had any issues with stability at 150. The Aero kit looks good, but I like the lines of the Carrera C2S. Plus there are less changes of rubbing the front bumper.
