.....what would you pick under $35k that won't make you hate it everytime you crank it up?

I would say S2000 or E46 M3, but curious what you guys think - and if there are other cars that should be on this list.

E46 M3... My daily is a E36 M3 and I love that car. Be careful about using the word "downgrade" as many M3 owners are pretty emotional about their cars including me even though I own both. The better car is, in most cases, a subjective decision since not everyone equates better to faster or better handling etc etc....

$35k would be E46 M3, possibly even a 135i 6speed used. That's all I would do for a daily driver that's sporty right now.

JEllis - it's a good point. Didn't mean downgrade, but just cheaper.

Take a hard look at a Cayman. Life is difficult without a Pcar!

Nice C55's can be had for well under $30K. A lot of car for a low price. Try one and see.

993, 964, Cayman S. All will make you smile almost as much as your 997. Maybe more. And whatever extra you spend in maintainence and repair will likely be offset by lack of depreciation, at least for the 911s.

Brand new 2008 EVO X GSR!
You can find one for as low as 29k and keep the extra 6k for upgrades!

Holy crap - didn't know a Cayman S could be had for under $35k...that's just crazy. That depreciation would have to slow down at some point though...(hopefully)

993 - ok as a daily driver?
996 - ok with 40k+ miles? heard maintenance nightmares
964 - don't know much - will look into it

4runner - funny, i have a beat up 2003
E55 - not a MB fan (just my opinion)
370Z - very interesting, but can't stand nissan stealerships - i'll bet money that they'll try to "market adjust" me. probably hard to get under 35k since so new.
S2000 - had one before, test drove one yesterday, wow - forgot how small they were...but gotta love getting that car past 6400 :-)
E46 M3 Competition - surprised how much these have dropped - maybe try one w/SMG - had 2 before w/ 6sp

As you can see, I'm all over the place, but thanks for the input guys - today's discover: serious depreciation of caymans!
