thanks for the compliments. i did see a seal grey there and loved the color. when i would look at it, i liked it more than the silver, when i looked at the silver, i liked IT more

so i just went with the right car/options

when i went in to pick up the car, we went upstairs to the parking garage to bring it down. sitting next to my car was a silver 996 GT2. i thought, wow, bad *** car. the salesman opened the door for me and once i saw the inside, i thought no thanks.
it did have one helluva stance though

didnt think there would be too much interest here but i may go ahead and give my impressions

Its the perforation for the airbag, they all have it.
thanks guys. ill give a brief impression C6Z vs 997S
C6 Z06:
HIGHS: tons of power and TQ just about anywhere on the tach. you can dang near drive it like an auto. in daily driving, i went 1st gear to 4th gear or sometimes even 1-5
.
comfortable interior, lots of bells and whistles and most are included in 3 different options packages.
tenatious grip and firm handeling.
dry sump, carbon fiber panels and floor, low weight.
much more solid feeling than a steel body C6 and paint and body panel was of higher quality than my 07 C6.
very fast on the street and track.
relatively good fuel economy.
LOWS:
too much plastic in the interior and a general cheap feeling when compared to german cars.
body panel and paint not up to EU standards.
lack of a close ratio trans. 5th and 6th gears wayyy too tall. notchy shifter and cranky diff.
chevy dealership service. you have to fight to get a loaner and then they give you a cavalier. same tech usually works on a malibu as on the Z
starting to become way too common. factory produced way too many and a new 09 Z can now be bought for as little as 62k.
far less feedback in the controls as compared to the 997.
lack of latteral support in the seats. you have to brace yourself agains the door and tunnel.
997 S:
Highs:
great looks, nice interior, close ratio box, smooth engine, nice shifter, good sound, iconic, better paint and panel fitment, a dealership where you are treated like a porsche owner. not a yugo.
HANDELING and FEEDBACK
good brakes.
someone put it very nicely. porsche rewards you at any speed. very true.
more exclusive.
LOWS:
Porsche is stingy with their options and i think the base car comes a little too stripped for a car in its price range. you have to order color wheel crests?? one can easily add 20k+ in options.
sport seats have good support but are a little less comfortable than a Z.
Nav and related electronic read outs seem clunky and outdated. not very user friendly and no touch screen.

Besides, I have no need for NAV in a car. If I need directions I use an iPhone or a portable GPS.
