Acceleration of the 997 S Tiptronic?

I read so much about how 'improved' the tiptronic is on the 997, and see that Porsche claims 4.6 seconds to 60 on the S with manual transmission, but nothing on the tiptronic. With the 1st gear staying in until 7200rpm, you'd think that this tip would be probably right along with the manual in acceleration times.

Anyone have the figures?

0-62 4.8 secs vs 5.2 secs for the tip...right off the Porsche.com website. This is for a standard Carrera, non S.

4.5 for the S vs 5.0 for the tip.

Wow that's disappointing. If it's so much improved, why is there such a discrepency between the tip and manual times? I still don't really understand why tip is so much slower, as the computer shift speed is MUCH faster than any human could ever do.

These times are no better than the 996 in terms of tip vs. 6-speed. Bah humbug.

sticky is infamous around these parts
The computer is shifting an automatic and an automatic with a torque convertor isn't as efficient as a manual.
