GMG made it all better
So about a month ago I had a little "mishap" at Willow Springs. To make a long story short another person gave me a point pass but as I was passing I could see him coming closer to me instead of letting me pass. So in this tense moment, I was gunning it to get by him and I mis-shifted into 2nd instead of going into 4th. Within a split second I could feel the car lose power. What people like to call the "Money Shift" had happened. So I drove it into the pits and called for a tow truck. I felt depressed but at the same time just happy I didn't get hit by the other guy who probably didn't even know what had just happened.
I have it towed straight to GMG since they've been doing all my cars since my Audi days. It goes without saying that Fabryce and crew can handle any situation you throw at them and I knew my car would be in good hands. So I decided to turn lemons into lemonade, in addition to my engine needing to be replaced I got a stage 2 GMG clutch, GMG WC sway bars and a LWFW. And wow what a difference these upgrades made! The car now gets going a hella of lot quicker and handles like it's on rails! Thanks GMG!
Just do yourselves a favor and don't man handle your shifter in tense moments. Use the palm of your hand only and be gentle with your shifts. I learned the hard way. Yikes.
Here is what your car looks like if you mis-shift. Wow you've just bought yourself a shinny new engine!

My old engine on the left and the new one on the right hanging and getting to know each other.

Shinny new engine and my light weight fly wheel

Sorry to hear you had to lay out that cash, expecially in this market, but good job staying positive.
LWFW makes a HUGE difference, as it allows more of engine HP to be transferred to the wheels since less hp is required to spin the heavy OEM FW. That's the "hyper"ness you feel- glad you love it!

Terrible situation, too bad it cost you so much money. Next time if the guy gives you a point and doesn't let you buy easily, pull into the hot pits. I know it is tough to deal with when you have all that adrenaline pumping, but it is a lot less expensive to calm down and come back out with a level head. The idea of an open track is more exciting then passing another car.
Wow. Got to remember to be a little more attentive while shifting. This is one of the reasons I have decided against a short throw shifter. I would think having the SS increases my chance for dropping into the wrong gear particularly on the track.

i was driving pretty quick when i first got my SSK and was in 3rd about to redline and went to throw it into 4th to take off, and put it in 2nd. Car Jerked HARD and I almost cried. Its a SCARY experience!!

You are correct and even more so you need to stay calm in "accident avoidance" situations. I never pass unless I feel 100% about the section of track. Problem is this person wanted me to pass on the right and used the pass left gesture instead of pointing over his head/roof. I choose to look at the bright side and I'm thankful I avoided getting slammed by this person.
I had a 6GT3 in Seattle give me a point, but it was just the tip of his finger. I wasn't sure if it was a point or not so I held off, he gave me another point, but it was too late to make the pass safely IMO, so I waved him off, and he thanked me by driving through all the rubber ***** on the side of the track, spitting them up at me. Needless to say I was not to impressed with his actions. Passed him at the next passing zone.
Take car of the engine, and it was a good thing that you didn't have any worse of a situation.
I have had numerous times where I wasn't comfortable with the pass, just hold off until the time is right for both drivers.

Great attitude about this, can't help fix your engine, but Rep points for you!
