The best part is he wrote me for a full 65............no reduction because I am a nice guy. I asked him why he wrote it a full 65(no tickets in 17years) and u know what he said"you just earned a ticket for no front plate also." I thought to my self "you MF'r" What can I say........just another tax to be paid for our country.

Thumbs down

sorry, but 35 is generally residential (round these them here parts anyways) ...while there are areas where this is possibly unwarranted, is generally not a good idea to speed in such zones (and not just for the fear of a ticket)

65 is nearly double the posted limit - you did the crime, time to pay the fine

/soapbox

Point was missed.......yes I did the crime.....just asked a simple question about the reduction. I didnt feel that it warranted another ticket.

while never attempting to understand the cop mindset, my guess is the speed, in the zone (the whole nearly double the posted thing), is to him, you giving him a big F.U. - and for you to then question his authority, that's another big F.U.

I'll bet he was planning on giving you the no front plate ticket anyway. Obviously, he knew that you were missing the plate before you talked to him.

What, he was holding back on that just to be a nice guy while writing you up for the full speed?

Nah. He was messing with you.

I live out in a pretty rural area. They drop the speed limits from 50 to 25 without any reason every couple of miles. So, I don't necessarily buy the idea that it was reckless to drive 25 MPH over the limit. The funny part is that you could have been doing 75 in a 25, and if YOU were a cop, the guy would have given you a big fat kiss and let you go. Two of my coworkers husbands are troopers and they get off on ANY ticket so far. I get to listen to them brag about it in the morning.

I have several friends that are troopers, sheriffs and local law, and I agree that I think it could have been less. I didnt call in a mark , because I did not feel that it was important enough. You use the favors when u really need them. I think it was called "8:30 at night and I dont want 2 be doing this on this road that has no traffic"
