Your in Charge........
More of a pinched waste 993 look
4.0 liter DFI base engine 400 hp 340 lb ft
4.0 liter DFI ER (extended rev) GT3 engine 450 hp and 350 lb ft
4.0 liter DFI Turbo TT engine 550 hp and 510 lb ft
4.0 liter DFI ER turbo engine GT2 engine 601 hp and 575 lb ft
Make the base car the GT car of the group, but give the Turbo the option of a track package similar to the ACR package on the Viper. Call it the CS ( Club Sport) package. Make the GT2 more of a GT3 on steroids, with an extended rev range over the standard TT.
Bring the PDK to all cars with the serious cars getting a race mode option, also a torque vectoring AWD system for the TT.
And scale back the weight by at least 100 lbs to 200 lbs across the board.

Good ideas guys....i agree take in the sides more w the design like they did w the 996 to the 997. And could flair it out more in the booty.
And most def stay w the DFI engine, which im sure they are that engine is AWESOME in 1 word.
We shall see what happens, im assuming the 998 will be out in Sept of 2010. right?????

some ideas.....
19 Fuch like style wheels are a spin on Sport Techno 19' wheels...
Chopped top like "roadster look" for converts....
Bring back a special slant nose style....
Thicken up that rear deflector on c4s.....
993 old school style front chin spoiler options ....wether with curled sides like on 993Gt2's....or the vented stll like on th 993TT....
Lower, fatter, wider.... this sells. IMO Porsche needs to get more exotic looking..... A stock 997 v1 or v2 is tough on the eyes for the price/85K car.
(key word here is stock)

not many posts mentioning that the chassis needs further development! By way of my thinking, when many authoritative drivers and sources claim that the M3 is right on the heals of the 997 in handling, it is time for some serious work! Many sources lament the vertical motion of the suspension in corners, as well as the effect of weight transfer on the front end of the car. I would think that perhaps attaining a weight distribution that is closer to the cayman might be a good start. Why not dump the rear seats and make the engine move forward a foot or so. Get the weight distribution closer to 45/55. I also would toss the strut suspension. Cost saving is OK, but even the 370Z and S2000 do not have struts.
I second the opinion that they should call Audi up and ask them how to make an interior look like a quality piece. You should not have to put $5K in leather options to make a 100K car look better than a vettes interior. Maybe for a grand, have "packages" that would have wood, carbon fiber, or silver trim. Audi had something like that before.
I love the current porsche engines and would not touch them. To make the car faster, why not drop some weight? I would spec some forged rims and dump the active aero thing on the rear end. And add a lighter exhaust and advanced battery tech. (LiPos perhaps??)Maybe we can only save 140 LBS, but that is a start.
If it sounds like we are getting closer to the caymans chassis, that is the idea. Keep as much as the 911 heritage as possible, but not to the detriment of it's ability to compete with the worlds best!

Wider hips. slightly more agressive front and rear bumpers stock, led lights, thicker stearing wheels standard, alcantra instead of leather at no extra costs, optional rear seat and sunroof deletes, lower, 4.0 liter engine, higher redline, padels for pdk, real aluminum instead of aluminum look plastic, As far as options i personally like that porsche brings so few things standard as standard options would just bring the price up. For example my car was 72k new because it has very few options and i like it like that. Use more aluminum to make it lighter, carbon fibre roof
