Your in Charge........

Ok guys w development of the 998 in progress, if you were in charge of the design and overall character of the car what would you do???

Ill start...I would stay w the Porsche design like they have for what 200yrs haha, but stay w the 993 & 997 design. Just tweak a few things leave the round headlights in front, adding LEDs is a nice touch. Almost just do a refresh because I think they hit the nail on the head w the 997 design so no need to get radical. Standardize a LSD...have adj sways come from the factory, so no need to upgrade to adj for guys tracking their cars.

Interior...Going from the 996 to 997 Porsche hit a homerun, they could go another level by maybe looking into the Audis interior and get some ideas, again just a tweak here or there. Make it look richer inside.

Engine...Its amazing Porsche continues to add hp wo getting away from a 3.6 and 3.8 engine. Keep that and would change the hp output to 415 on the Carrera S and the Carrera.. I would do 380. While having the Trq for the S b 320 and 300 for the Carrera.

What would you guys do or think they might be doing with the 998

Yes, keep with the 993 mentality. Suck in the sides a little more (which I heard they did), move the mirrors to the doors (which they also did), give the car a flatter nose (more like the 964), up the power....

Overall I hope Porsche continues with its winning theme of an evolutionary update to both the interior and the exterior of the car, it is a classic and that is why I own one.

I would be in line for an increase in torque and HP, but I would be more interested in a more flexible suspension set-up (i.e., abilty to adjust camber…) and perhaps 3 PASM modes (cruise, sport and track) and most importantly less weight! I would love to see a 2800lb car!

exterior: lambo doors would be cool lol, more vents like the current turbo and GT2s would be great, more aggressive looking front would also be appreciated

interior: how'll about a few more inches in the back seat? making it, you know...semi-usable..lol. Sport steering wheels and carbon fiber package should also come standard.

Engine: LSD should come standard, and i agree that power should be increased to 400hp/400 torque on the base C2 and work up from there (can't be outdone by BMW).

Other: remote start-up and maybe a keyless ignition?

Porsche will never have Lambo doors, they are used too much as track toys and if they ever end up with the shinny side down, how do you open the door?

wider hips (ie. make the 997 narrow body = wide body and make the wide body even wider (slightly) and slightly louder exhaust straight from the factory.

Remove the rear seats and move the engine more forward.

Stay on the road to clean up the center dash cluster

make the horn beep when you lock the car

Allow sunroof delte for the USA

Keep the round head lights

More agressive looking front bumper

lose weight

add HP/TQ

add paddles that follow the steering wheel for PDK

better sounding stock exhaust

offer a forged light weight wheel option from the factory

lower the stock PASM suspension and make the Sport PASM still a little lower

redesign the mounting bracket for the GT2 (Sport Bucket Seat) so that this seat goes as low and back as the stock Sport seats...tall guy can not fit in the GT2 seat...it does not go as low or as far back as the stock or sport manual seats.

+1 Love those ideas. I'd also work to reduce the overhangs front and rear.

Add more pronounced flare to the front and rear fenders.

Definitely clean up the 997.2 taillight design. LEDs on the 997.1 style would be ideal.

Ditch the struts up front and go with an A arm type suspension with some real adjustability.

LOWER WEIGHT - simplify components, use more exotic materials where it makes sense...everything else, just minor tweaks.

1) Allow texture to be part of color choice . Like matte or carbon fiber roof can be an option.

2) I like traditional but the LED's were well received . I see the possibility of headlights looking more Cayenne or Panamera ish in future 911's.

3) Sunroof should be deleted , LSD standard .

4) Delete the number of models . There is no need to have a c4, a C4s , a Targa 4, c4 cab , a c4s cab .. that's 4 AWD models . Eliminate the base coupes . Make just ONE and stop this nonsense of 7K more to get the right engine . Make it right and charge less .

Porsche has a prduct and there are many people are tired of OTHER auto manufacturers dropping the ball . This is Porsche opportunity to seize that market share with affordable leasing and customer service amenities which once had BMW and Lexus thriving .. until their "Bangled" arrogance and inferior products send customer searching and Porsche can have this . So can the car buyers who for years dreamt of Porsches but tried to save money.

More horsepower, less weight, no more RMS issues, optional LSD, more innovative driver tech: ride height adjustment, dynamic engine mount options (both from GT3), column mounted shifters for PDK, Club sport option.

Design-wise: lower, sleeker, wider, longer, with bigger rear tires. Technology-wise - more cutting edge: rear/side view camera, night vision, higher redline, light-weight materials, more forced induction options (both turbo and supercharger)

funny after hearing various comments about the tail lights. I went out to the dealership this aft and studied the 997.1 and 997.2 tail lights side by side......after a long look.....IMHO the 997.2 looked more current... however without a doubt loved the new Dynamic cornering headlights.. Had the Carrera Gt hint.
