Is my dealer correct?

When I had my dealer fix some issues on my new/used 2005 997 (including the RMS), he said that all parts and labor that are fixed under warranty come with a 2 year parts and labor warranty. If this is true, I probably won't buy the extended warranty. Most people cite the RMS as the main reason for the warranty. Is my service manager correct? Thoughts on the warranty?

Thanks,
Nick

yes, that's correct... but then, the alternator fails, or the "engine killer" IMS fails...
You never know...

a lot of expensive stuff can fail on a complex car! I could not sleep at night without a warranty. My old M3 had a 10yr/100,000 warranty on any engine part that touched oil. (part of the grenading engine syndrome of 2001!) And a 10yr warranty on ignition coils. Well, a big rubber piece of door trim failed and it was $500 per side to fix! So it cost a grand for some rubber seals that are not made by anyone else on earth! I wish I had that extended warranty at that moment.

I have bought two extended warranties in my life back in the days when the 993 and 993 Turbo had only a two year warranty. The first paid for itself. The second was a waste .

It's a personal decision . Warranty does add some peace of mind yet like most insurance you only benefit if the car breaks --which is a headache in itself . My feeling has always been to trade in a car that begins to break and buy a new one . Spending 4 or 5 K on warranty to live in the shop --I would opt for a new car .

Most of my Porsches have been quite reliable but my highest mileage car was only 33K so I haven't ever kept one too long without wanting the new technology .
