Contisportcontact3 for more treadwear?

So, I don't want to replace the PS2s every 14k miles. Contisportcontact3s have an N rating and higher wear rating. Does anyone have these tires on a 997 or 997s? I am willing to trade a small bit of performance for tread wear.

I had Conti 2's on my Boxster and they are awful. I also don't think you will get considerably more mileage with them. Bridgestone RE 050's are a cheaper alternative to PS2's that you might consider. Great tire in my opinion.

I too had the CS2's and thought that they were terrible tires, however I have heard that the CS3's are much better.

I am assuming that the 14,000 miles is for the rears, as the fronts are suppose to last 2x the rears, and if so the milage is excellent for PS2's on a 911. Do look at a tread wear rating from one manufacturer to another, it means nothing unless you are comparing with in a brand ie Michelin tires only. The treadwear indicator has no standardization for testing and rating, so it can be very misleading.

I have heard good things about the RE050, so as type997 says give them a try.

Anyone know if Nitto Invo's are decent tires for the 997?

ATL - I replaced my PS2s with Bridgestone Potenza RE960s this past January, and have been VERY happy with them.

No, they are not "N" spec and no they are not high performance tires, but my 997 is a weekend driver, I will never track it, etc.

Ride is great, treadwear is 400AA and the tires comes with a 40,000 mile warranty (no I am not joking).

Anyway, thought you'd like to know of another tire option.

GL

Treadwear is not standardized so comparing between manufacturer's is useless. I just got the sportcontact3 and I am very pleased with them so far. They feel superior to the sportcontact2's I had in the past. As far as treadwear goes, we'll see how long they last as I have very few miles on them so far.

How are they mileage wise?

Fabryce at GMG liked the Invo's a lot..thought they were up there with the PS2's. My issue with them is they aren't N spec and how does that affect a lease turn in.

Depends on the dealer you turn the car into most likely.

I have the Conti3s on my C2S and really like them. They are night and day better than the old Conti2. Call and talk to Damon at Tirerack. Thats where I got mine.

I just wore out a rear set of 20" Conti 2's and they rode great- miles better than the prev 19" pzero's on my stock wheels. No complaints at all. I would say they last as long as PS2's. - But I also have a "lead foot"....

However, since it is *IMPOSSIBLE* to find a pair of Conti 2 in 305/25/20 I'm putting on 295/25/20 PS2's and changing fronts to 235/30/20 PS2 as well.
There is a .3 footprint diff beteen the two rears (PS2 vs. Conti), and .1 diff between the fronts. PS2 seems to run wider than Conti.

Anyone need a pair of almost new 245/30/20 Conti 2's?

i put 3k miles on my CS3's on the C6Z06 before i sold it. they didnt look like they wore at all in 3 k miles or relatively hard use.

HOWEVER, they also didnt grip very well either. look up my thread comparing this tire to the MPS 2.

if you drive your car hard, i'd skip these tires

Yeah- I did not want to put conti3's on back and leave conti2's on front. They changed the sidewall design / tread on the 3's. Bugs me to run mis-matched tires.
