Need an opinion....

I just bought a 997S.2 recently, and wanted to wait till after the summer to buy new wheels. In the mean time, I decided to powdercoat the stock wheels flat black to hold me over. I am having difficulty deciding what to do about the center caps. I went ahead and just painted them flat black, but it kinda looks blah. My buddy deputydog95 recommended some centerlock dummies to match the red breaks. I think they look great, but I am kind of bothered by the fact that they are fake. Dont want to be that guy. Here is a link to what they look like. Let me know what you think guys.....

I'm friends with deputydog95...I remember him telling me about your new P-car...saw some pics too...very nice....

For the time being, you could have the crest on the center cap painted to match the hood emblem until you decide to get new wheels...it would stand out against the black wheel and still be original...

I have all black wheels on my car for the track, I like the look. Post some picture of your car and wheels.

I think the fake caps don't look good, maybe it is the good wheels, but doesn't look good IMO.

Greek, is there a way I could see your car? I too have a 997.2 and am thinking of the stock wheels in black. Since we are both in Tampa hopefully we can hook up.

The GT2/3 RS wheels in your link might not work as the rears might stick out a little too much to your liking. The front offset will work and will be all the way out the the edge...my track wheels were this way.
Thanks! Mike

The wheels took a lot longer than normal for them to strip it. It should be ready tomorrow afternoon hopefully. I'll definitely have pics of the car tuesday.

Mike - I wasnt interested in the wheels, but just the centerlock dummies that are on the wheels. Sorry for the confusion. I was going to ask if you wanted to meet up. I was curious how your car sounded with the bypass pipes, and how you liked them. Like I said, the wheels, along with the spacers should be ready tomorrow, so maybe next weekend we can meet up....

What would you guys think if I got a shop to make a final copy of the porsche logo in red, and just use it as a overlay where the old logo was on the centercap?

Get the center locks. They'll look cool on the black wheels.

I wonder if the 997.2 bypass pipes are as loud as the ones on my 996. You guys have some extra baffling somewhere in the system don't you?

Here's a shot of the center locks on my car. I pc'd the lug bolts black. I'm not trying to fool anyone. They just look cool.

I have seen a black wheel with titanium lugs . Since the titanium is darker it really looks cool and is lighter weight too. As for center caps I felt on mine that the HRE was a step up so I have no problem displaying it . You may choose to go this route . It's such a personal decision that it takes thought and time.

Here's my question . Didn't you lease your car ? If so don't you have to return it stock ? Why not get four new wheels and keep the stock ones in the garage so you never have to repair them and sell the aftermarket ones when you turn in the car?

Yrralis - I have absolutely no patience, and always need to mess with something. I am in the restaurant business, and this summer looks like its gonna be the worst summer for restaurants in general. I figured I be somewhat responsible, and buy wheels and exhaust mods afterward. About the me painting the stock wheels, i'll just trade with someone who has regular C2S wheels, and put them in the garage when I get some HRE's or BBS's....

We're not contemplating the meaning of life here... It's just centercaps Now I've changed my vote to running them with no caps. Just a big empty hole!
