Hi,

I have an '05 997 and have the old DVD for the Nav that came with the 05's which does not pick up alot of newer areas. Where is the best place to get a copy of the newest DVD for the least amount of $$? How much can I expect to pay for them and are they burnable?

You can check eBay or maybe find someone who will sell or swap, otherwise shop the dealers to find it new.

 

Be careful regarding buying off ebay for obvious reasons.

First off, if you have an early (2005) 997 you'll need to go through various PCM upgrades before you can consider a more current Map DVD.

Remember, once you upgrade the PCM (to level 3.0) you will not be able to go back to your 'old' Map DVD. I'd suggest checking your level of PCM (ie. press main & trip concurrently) and AMP to make sure that they are upgradeable.

If your current PCM level is 1.0 or 2.1 you'll need a couple of Porsche upgrade discs to get you to level 3.0. Your AMP must be at least at level 00017500 or you'll be wasting your time and money. Most early 997's came w/ AMP 00016400. There is no upgrade to the AMP other than buying a newer one.
