Wow. The absurdity of the responses are just appaling.

I swear I can't turn a wrench, but, I'd expect people give some meanful advice to this poor guy.

I agree, most of these responses are thoughtless or factually incorrect. The pic attached is a narrow body car like yours with the widebody offset wheels (11" with 51mm)

As you can see, when the car is lowered they tuck in quite nicely. Your car has the highest ride height of any 997 since it is a 3.6 non PASM chassis. The extra height exagerates the impression that the wheels are too far displaced. You can definitely make the wheels work either by lowering the car or maybe just a more aggresive alignment (more neg camber)

The price you paid BTW is very fair for true new car takeoffs with tires. Many of the wheel packages on ebay are BS. Either not true takeoffs or damgaged, etc.

Enjoy your new car and wheels and don't take these message boards too seriously.

There's enough people out there looking new car take-offs, why don't you just put them up for sale. Use the time they are for sale to do some thorough research on your next rims...by the time you have it figured out, the rims will be sold, and you can put that money toward a set that you will be happy with, that will look good, will not compromise the car, or your safety.

I'm running the same offset with 315's. I've tracked my car with this setup, no safety issues what so ever. The car handles so much better over stock. Lower the car (on coilovers if you can) and you'll see how nice the wheels tuck.

dksu,
The wheels will tuck away perfectly once the vehicle is lowered. We have put OEM 997 widebody wheels on a narrow body applications before and they tend to stick a a few mm's until the car is lowered. Once the suspension is installed the wheels with sit perfectly in your wheel well.

Congrats on the wheels and good-luck with the new car.

Why is that? If you put 15mm on nb, it makes 52mm, which is close enough to my rears, 51mm. I don't get it why my rears look like buggy.....
You nailed it right there. Your offset is only 1mm more than what lots of people think looks great. As others have pointed out it is the height of the non-PASM suspension that makes it look odd. 52mm is the most common aftermarket wheel offset for the narow body cars. Technically your set-up without spacers could be seen as even 'safer' than using 15mm spacers on NB wheels (mechanically speaking) - not that there is any issue with spacers.

Keep the wheels & tires and go the next step of a decent coil-over kit (Bilstein PSS10 or KWv3 or ...) and then see how you like it. I am certain you will be pleased.

My post clearly stated that I don't know but he ought to be sure the car is safe and that its set right . I also don't like spacers beyond OEM and I also think wheel safety ought to be addressed .

He asked for opinions he got them . If you and one or two others feel they are "thoughless" then that's yoir opinion but I think all tried to help him.

Also if you feel that everyone who posts a new wheel or thing ought to get an immediate ego stroke of "nice car" replies then that's just wishful thinking .

It's a public forum . You can't control what others say .. you can control how you react to it though.

Actually, it appears dksu only asked for opinions on coilovers: "Which CO is best suited for non PASM car?" People's opinions on the looks were just bonus content...

Regardless, this IS a forum and others may post as they please - good, bad or whatever. Personally I will just try to contribute & make suggestions, but I never claim that I'm correct either - just providing food for thought, nothing more. The input from experienced/expert members will always rise to the top of the pile anyway. These forums are great because it can take a variety of perspectives to arrive at the best solution.

Blatantly negative criticism excepted of course...

Sounds like the advice is clear - lower the car with Bilsteins or H&R coils and you should be fine...if it rubs then you sell the rears and buy the proper fitment. Good luck!
