Buying an 09 or get a massive discount on 08?
Won't the 998 (or whatever it will be called) be out next year? I thought the change was coming on the 2011 year. if that is true, won't 997's take a big depreciation hit whwn the new style is out? Normally happens when body styles change, but maybe it's different with p-cars.
Just a thought, but I wouldn't want a 997.2 if this is true.

of course it really boils down to your financial situation but I can tell you what I did. I really wanted the 09 with the PDK and in my opinion, it is a much nicer then the 997 gen 1. However, it is considerably more expensive though and to me, it wasn't worth the 30k premium that I would have had to pay. Granted you would be getting a new car with all the bells and whistles but 30k is a lot of money, at least to me. And the way I see it, cars are depreciating assets and the less I pay going into them, the less I'll lose in the end. In the end, I bought an 07 C4S which was lightly used but new to me. I paid 60 percent of the original MSRP so I'm feeling pretty good about things. What it really boils down to is how much is an extra 30 bHp and PDK transmission worth to you?
If I were thinking of an '09, I would do manual...no PDK. The added horsepower over the '08 is a welcome addition. As for the rest of the "upgrades" a 997.2 has over the .1, they aren't worth the premium in my opinion.

Cars are like golf clubs. The manufacturers use the newest models to entice to spend more dough -- for nominal improvements in performance and/or ownership experience. They dangle that in front of your face like a carrot on a stick.
You just have to ask yourself if you really need that new R9 driver......

I had the same dilemma - buy a new 09 C2 or a new 08 C2S for about 15K less. The 08 I picked was black on black, had sport chrono, sport exhaust, Bose, nav and, the most important thing, Porsche crests in the headrest.
I don't buy version 1.0 of anything, so that was a compelling argument not to get the 09 C2. As for a lightly used Turbo, I couldn't touch one for what I paid for the 08 C2S. But I'm not complaining - I'm quite happy with what I got, and the price I paid.

997.2 production should last 3 full model years '09 '10 and '11 just like the 996.2 ('02 '03 and '04)
Ok -- IMO --This is the AWD car to buy right here . http://porsche.niello.com/details.php?id=16520
My friend was the owner and its meticulous . If I didn't already have a Turbo I would buy that car . It has sat at that dealership for a long time . The only big optin it doesn't have is axle lock which I don't feel is a big enough deal . He never modified it and hardly drove it . I keep pleading with him to buy it back and post on 6speed.

I second the first poster- a lightly used CPOed '07 C2S is $25-30K less than a '09 C2S and gives you at least 90% of the performance and enjoyment. I couldn't justify the extra cash to my conscience or to the wife-
I saw the white turbo in person. It's a really nice looking car in great condition. I had this same descision to make and I ended up with an 09 C4S. I'm actually picking it up Sat. It had an MSRP of 108K and I paid 89K. This equates to 1199/month 36m 10k/y $1943.00 drive off. I couldn't do without the PDK and Porsche has finally figured out that some people value the interior of their cars. The descision was easy after the test drove the 09.
