This Wait is Killing Me !!!!

My C4S Cab was pushed back from Feb to March production and was finally completed over 2 weeks ago. It is sitting in Germany along with a few other cars from my dealership waiting to be shipped. I am growing increasingly agitated at Porsche for not only pushing my production back but now sitting on the shipment. I asked my dealer if Porsche is compensating me in any way for delaying me for their own cost-cutting maneuvers and not only is that answer "No" but I come to find out that they actually increased my MSRP by $ 800, WTF lol ???? I ordered my car Dec 15 and somehow in Feb 09, they did this increase.

The delay , price increace, and deal you made months ago has to be updated . They missed the agreed deadline and IMO that makes the current car a new deal. We are 6 months away from 2010 . I would negotiate a better price or buy a different car . There are too many bargains to be had with that same 135K of new C4S money.

+1 to what Larry is saying. Cancel the order and go buy another one from someone else. You could also suggest that you want to do this and see what happens.

Read the fine print carefully, then be a *****. Much as I despise most (not all) of them, a $250 consultation with a lawyer first might be in order.

Not sure why your car is still in Germany. My C2S Cab CMPPRD was 3/23 and the ONVESL was 4/1. ETA Brunswick is 4/20. Not sure what recourse you have other than to walk away. The following is from the Pro Forma Invoice:

"All information in this document is subject to change without notice. Porsche Cars North America and Porsche A.G. accept no liability arising from the use of the information contained herein.
Only the actual invoice issued by PCNA at the time this vehicle is purchased by the dealer may be used as an official indication of pricing."

The mere suggestion may be enough for them to react in a positive way towards the customer. I did it the other day with Sleep Country, they screwed up the delivery and couldn't make it on the day we agreed, so they through in a new set of pillows and bedding at No Charge. I find I can get my point across by asking for a manager, not raising my voice, and definitely no swearing, just make your point and let them know the PIA that it has caused. Most people are inclined to do what it takes to make the customer happy (that is what I have to deal with from time to time with my business).

I think he went about this in the right way and got screwed .

He ordered a car exactly the way he wanted , worked a deal which at that time was acceptable , and waited patiently . He even stood loyal to the agreement .. but they changed things .

If a car depreciates 12K in one year then two months is 2 grand added to the 800 dollar hike lets round up and say 3K plus he has no car still.

So he wrestles .. cancellation hassle vs car that he wants .

But is it the car that he wants?
Or is the the car he wanted two months ago that they screwed him on ?

He will know that answer when he goes to sell it and he is told it's an 09 when he's taking delivery nearing model year 2010 .

In my opinion that dealership needs to
a) offer a full refund immediately
or
b) take 3 grand off their original price and if it's another month late sell that car at cost to retain his business and respect as a future customer .

I am leaning towards choice a . I don;t care how great the car is . I don't like a business who takes money in one hand and jerks him around with another .

In my opinion --they need to come down off that high horse and realize he can negotiate any item he buys --even a piece of gum.

My car was completed on 3/27 and is on a ship heading this way right now. As I understand the price increase, it went into effect on cars ordered on or after February 9. If my dealer tried to add another $800 onto my contracted amount, I'd back out and take my deposit with me.

Hey men thanks for all the input. I don't blame my dealer since I have not asked them for any concessions yet. About an hour after my post yesterday, I heard from the dealer that the car did finally ship. I am still trying to figure out what I want to do. During the last month or so of waiting I clearly had too much time on my hands and got my garage redone, right down to the floor and de-ionized car wash lol, take a look.

I often find it funny that the majority of people on these forums thinks that their dealer is such a horrible entity... Our local dealer bends over backwards for us and the provide us with a tremendous service. I have nothing good to say about ours. The dealer has absolutely 0 control over when porsche ships a car and when it will arrive, PCNA normally doesnt either. Garage looks nice btw. Bug your dealer for some porsche posters for in there.

I guess it all depends on how badly you want that car and how much you abhor a hassle/confrontation. You could definitely make a case for significant concessions in price and/or walk away which will involve some sort of altercation. (I support this approach). On the other hand, if you want that car, have the garage built specifically for that car, and want to have a long-term partnership with that dealer, you might not want to create much of a fuss. Are you inpatient for that specific car or are you angry that you are getting screwed? That might answer your further moves. Something tells me that you prefer just to take possession, which I respect. Impeccable garage, btw.
