Radar in Cabriolet

I am going for a 997 Cab. I want to put a radar, I have always used the V1 however I am concerned of leaving the top down and having the unit stolen. Any other alternatives? Thank you.

Remove the unit every time you leave the car; I do and I drive coupes. No big deal.

Go for an integrated system like the Escort 9500ci. This has both laser shifters and radar detection. That's what I have in my C63. I have an Escort 9500ix in my C2S Cab. It's easy to pull off the windshield mounting bracket (while keeping the bracket on) and I lock it in the glovebox. If someone wants to pry that open & steal it, so be it--I don't sweat it.

That's a dilema if you leave your car open unattended.....I do not (except got a few minutes, or in view, etc.)

I am finishing my mount of VI plus Remote in a 997.2 C4S cab.
Both pieces will be 'fixed' with the head unit high and mostly behind visor.....never have used 'suction cups'.
I am proceeding w/this install exactly as I did with Boxster, 996Cab & even Turbo coupe.

But I'd say if you are set on Val and on leaving the car opin, you pretty much have to have it easily removable.....pain.
Possibly a reason to invest in SmartTop?......auto close & lock as you walk away.

I had a K40 built in to my cabrio. No visible parts to steal. Doing it over now, would probably go with the Escort 9500 component system.

I'd like to see the install of the V1 without suction cups, not the remote.

Well.....sorry for the old pics.....but you are missing the head unit....it's up there (peeking behind the visor).
A walk-up trooper has never seen it, and it's very difficult to see from the front of the car.

Another poor pic.....with visor flipped up.

Modify regular V1 bracket.
2 small screws into the whinshield suround.
Bracket position allows V1 to brace as normal against glass.
Very secure....no rattle...no movement.
I've filled tiny holes when I sell car.....I can't even see em.
Been doing it this way on every Benz & Pcar I've ever had.
