Do you guys think the 997 interior is a bit cheap in the design department?

It is not meant to compare the 996 to a Ford, but it does have the same oval theme that the mid 90's Taurus had.

997guardian is infamous around these parts
The 996 interior is absolutely terrible. I can't imagine anybody thinking the 996 interior is superior to the 997.
When I was shopping around I chose the 997 over the 996 mainly because of the exterior but the interior definitely sealed the deal.

I'm with the majority here - I think the 997 interior is pretty good!

Slightly OT, but I saw some reviews of the Elford book (I think was that book) that said it was mostly stories about driving and had very few "take aways" that you could actually use.

Anyway, for another comparison, I'd say the 997 interior is far superior to the interors that BMW is making now. The new M3 interior is amazingly plain. The progression from the E39 5er and E46 3er to what we have today is really very sad.

He tells a lot of stories but they are in context and every Porsche fan loves to read those. Of course, a non-P-car fan may say that the book could be condensed strictly to the teaching parts, but I think not.

porsche interiors are lousy unless you do a full leather. Let's not kid ourselves here! But I knew this before I bought the car, and that makes it fair game. It is not like I did not see one before I bought it! I do wonder why they don't get rid of all the huge gaps and seams where they relieved the plastic to fit the optional leather wraps, though. I gotta say that is pretty cheesy! But I appreciate the lightness of the interior pieces.....makes car go faster
