998?
it willl be called 991 not 998
there is no need to verify it, they should do it like nissan and pretend a time, that`s enough nowadays

Yes it's "991" and there's a ton of film and pics of this car already. It's due in 2011.
In a race around the 'ring against the biggest liars the 991 will lose regardless. Until Nissan have the ***** to put the GT-R on the same track at the same time as the 997TT with the same driver, there can be no conclusive truth about how big a lie they've told. When you have a driver of the caliber of Walter Rohrl who can't get close to Nissan's claimed time you know something smells badly off...

And Röhrl is capable of driving any car to its very limits after 10 minutes. today`s cars are by far easier to drive than the monster cars he used to drive 25 years ago anyway.
by the way, the pictured car is the next 991TT

i know, i think they want to fool people with these stickers but it is def. the next TT not the standard carrera..
probably because the next TT has new vents that are closer to the turbos.
maybe like the RUF RT12 or something similar to it, this would make sense (to avoid braking heat along the way and shorten the distance):

Fake
If you can be bothered to look more closely on these pics + film from artic circle winter testing you can see very clearly that the side vents are fake. The engine noise on the film is from an N/A car.
Sorry - you need to spend more time studying.

If you bothered to read Motor Authority's article it very clearly states"
"Recently a test mule was spotted in Germany by our spy photographers, suggesting that Porsche engineers may have already begun testing the next-generation 998 model, and now we have a new images of a prototype for the upcoming car. Note that the side vents on the car are fake. "

Neither
The cars on the track and in the arctic circle are all still N/A - no TT's for 991 yet. Check the development cycles and you will see why. There are also substantial issues with PDK and proper dry sump engines so problems with TT, GT3 and GT2 in terms of compatibility - hence no 997.2 versions with PDK either.
