Does the 997 Carrera S have wider rear fender than the regular Carrera?
About 3/4" each side. It is not a huge difference in my opinion. I've seen narrow body cars that look just as "hippy" by adding nice wheels and spacers. To me, the only reason to buy a wide body should be because you want or need the AWD.

You're just being humble and making the rest of jealous. To be exact, it's .865 of an inch per side. IMO, it's significant.
the 997 really took out the wide body advantage by making the narrow body very close in look.
awd on the other hand, sux
how involved is putting the wider 1/4 panels on a C2?
Had both for about a week after I bought my T4S and before the buyer picked up my C2S cab. Standing behind them I honestly had trouble seeing any difference. See attached photos. I'll admit that you see it more looking from the front, since the front of the rear WB fender flares more, but it is a pretty subtle difference.

Is there any wider track (different offset/spacers) or wider tires out back to take advantage of it ?
If so, then it's NOT "just for looks" even though I'd take it for that reason alone. I'm guessing 3/4" on each side doesn't change the aerodynamics much, but 20mm wider tires could make a difference both due to track width and rubber on the road.

when I got my C4S I pointed out a C2S to my wife and asked her if she could tell the difference. She walked around the C2S (cars were not side by side) and said "our car looks like it has a bigger butt and is a little lower" so if she can tell the difference I think that it is noticeable.
