OEM SSK Intall question

I finally ordered an OEM SSK for my 997 this week, and plan to install it soon after it arrives.

I understand that one of the tricky parts of the install is removing the shifter boot horseshoe trim. Anyone have any pointers for doing this without breaking anything? (such as type of tools, pry points, etc.) Also, the retainer screw at the front is apparently tricky to get to, and sometimes may require removal of the center console. Is this usually the case or not? Just want to be prepared before I get started. I do have the B&M install instructions, and understand some of the differences such as not having to break any bushings for the OEM version.

Any helpful hints would be appreciated.

stardoc is infamous around these parts
Best tool is an ipod plastic pry, I used a very dull and flat rounded knife with scotch tape rapped around its tip with no damage. Center horseshoe needs time to separate, with a prying motion every inch, when you rotate your plastic instrument it needs to be with a deliberate force to ensure the plastic ties come apart. DO NOT force it out, if it doesn't want to come out easy you need to pry more.
Center retainer screw was a non-issue, just takes some baXXs to force the torque wrench semi parallel to the screw while slightly bending back the covering plastic piece from the center console. You just need to support the center console plastic with you other hand to not break it.

You can get a trim tool kit at harbor freight or auto zone for about five dollars. It will come with an assortment of plastic pry tools and edges.

The hardest thing to do is remove the shift ****. Be sure and use the alignment tool to center up the shifter.

This is not hard to do.
